We had a disappointing experience having lunch at The Sundeck. Our coffees were nice and came out quickly but our food took 30 minutes or so after this to be served with no one checking in on us. The cafe was not busy with about 30-40% of tables with people on them. My partner’s risotto had over cooked rice swimming in stock with crunchy red onion and par cooked tomatoes. The mussels also had a beard on one and melted cheese plastered to the shell of the second. No seasoning and no “hint of chilli” detected. He was only able to eat half the portion - mainly the seafood from the plate. My panini was tasty but a small portion for the price. Nobody checked in to ask how our meal was. We took our plate in and explained the problem with the risotto but the staff did not seem to care. Despite showing them the mussels and over cooked rice they just said “people rave about it”. We left hungry and disappointed by both the apathy and the food despite the great location.

My husband and I had Sunday lunch here. The venue was quiet and we were seated and attended to immediately. The male waiter was friendly and efficient. The location is awesome with a fabulous view and lovely breeze off the water. However the food disappointed... The seafood risotto had hardly any seafood in it (like searching for a needle in a haystack) and the portion was small for an adult. The 'catch of the day' had a thin small piece of fish and the plate was mostly filled with salad leaves and potato crisps. Both meals were expensive for what was actually served. This just seems wrong considering Bermagui is a fishing mecca and seafood should be plentiful and affordable.

Had the wonderful delicious vegetarian frittata. Salad was very healthy with a variety of greens and vegetables and the amazing relish dressing made even the rocket leaves taste good. Service was lovely and gluten free options made in house put this place my easy favourite in Bermagui. Looking foward to going back and trying the whole menu. Went back and tried the flathead with hand cut chips and salad, absolutely delicious.

First time at this cafe and won't be back.

We arrived in the early afternoon and asked for a table for 2. All the tables inside the restaurant were full and it was raining outside, so we sat on the couches, and told the waitress that we would be eating lunch. After a few minutes they had not brought the menus over so we went up to the counter and asked and we were told that they would bring them over shortly. Another 5 minutes goes by before the waitress came and dropped them on the table without really saying anything to us. While we were looking at the menus a table opened up, so we checked with a waiter that it was okay to move to the table and he said it was no problem. We sat down and had decided on what we wanted to eat. Another 10 minutes went by and nobody had come to take our order. We had to flag down a waitress, only for her to bluntly say "oh you've moved". We both ordered the catch of the day, flathead at $32 a piece. We waited at least 30 minutes after ordering for the food to arrive while now being the only people in the restaurant. The food was very underwhelming for the price. The fish was oven baked in a garlic butter, which while it tasted okay, was not mentioned on the menu and we where expecting fried fish. The "hand cut chips" seemed to be more of a home made crisp style, but they were served under the fish and garlic butter so became soggy. After our meal we ordered coffee and paid the bill. Another 10 minutes had passed with no coffees being delivered, again while we are the only people in the restaurant. We had to ask about the coffees and the man making the coffees apologised and said he hadn't seen the docket on the machine.

From my experience I would recommend avoiding this cafe. The poor service and expensive and underwhelming food made for a very...

Sorry but I have to do this. This cafe looks pretty nice from the outside, but there are some problems for sure.

There are signs advertising a wide range of pies outside, but they only had one flavour for sale to eat in store. The rest seemed to only be for sale frozen to heat yourself at home. The pie was decent (chicken and mushroom), but lacked a bit of flavour so had to add salt to it. Nothing special. It was $14 for a pie and a small salad on the side, pretty expensive if you ask me. Also, it took quite a while just to get an already cooked pie and salad out - about 20 minutes. Please improve this.

The reason I went for the pie was because the rest of the menu was so expensive for a small cafe lunch. There wasn't prices outside so it was quite a shock when I saw the menu and price of everything. I got the feeling that customers at other tables felt the same way. Had fish and chips the next day for much cheaper for what you get.

Cafe is in a nice...
