Lovells Birdwood — Restaurant in Birdwood

Despite being semi local, (work in Birdwood,) I have avoided this bakery for a number of years because of poor food quility and lack of customer service. I finally ventured back, but things are no better. Despite dining in, we were told they were using paper takeaway cups as they were "too busy" to use proper crockery. We asked for a bun to be cut in half and the woman behind the counter promptly plonked it down on a dirty chopping board amongst slices of discarded tomato to cut it. The coffee was nothing special. While waiting for the coffees (no table service here,) the staff member decided to re-stock the pie warmer.... I've never seen anyone throw food into a pie warmer like she did. No care or respect for the food here either........another customer also commented on her literally throwing the food into the warmer. At least the food fared better than the customers. Absolutely no smile or customer service in this place. Can't work out how a bakery in such a busy little town can be so well known for consistently employing (and tolerating) grumpy...

Horrid!! As soon as we walked in there was no greeting staff did not talk to us. We made our order for two adults and two children to dine in My partner and I both got salad rolls My roll was dry and stale and I couldn’t eat it it was terrible. Staff complained that other customers had sat at a table inside part of the bakery and said to other customers that no one should be sitting in there .. there were no signs or a door shut nor did the staff say to anyone to not sit there ? Until someone had been in there for ten minutes.. people won’t know unless a sign is up or they are told staff were rude as hell Apon leaving I took my roll to the counter and advised the staff that it was stale/dry and tasted gross staff got funny with me and said it was made this morning … we ate at 11:30 am we tried to be polite but felt unwelcome the entire time do not...

I always like popping in for their yummy Cornish pasties. Their coffee tastes yummy too. Must try their Kitchener buns too, yum 14th April 2024 Dropped in for lunch, got my Steak and Mushroom pie, honey log and coffee, yum!
