At 6:30 on a cold Winter morning these guys greet you with a warm hello and a piping hot delicious coffee without fail. I have no reason to believe it will not be the same in Summer. I have a favourite seat, which catches the sun as it streaks through the leaves of the trees in Bowman Park early morning.

Once I decided to tolerate the endless ignorance of the swathes of middle aged male cyclists that hang out here, and leave their bicycles in everyone’s way, it became one of my favourite cafe’s. It’s true I have to chant passages from Marcus Aurelius’ stoic learnings to myself while attempting to ignore them complaining about how cars shouldn’t be allowed to drive on the same roads as them. I mean, really, do they ever stop to consider how ridiculous they are?

Anyway, back to this glorious cafe, which I highly recommend to each and everyone of you. Except if you’re a cyclist; in that case go find another place and leave the rest of us decent...

A fantastic local coffee shop to pop in for a takeaway, or relax over a sit down coffee and brunch. It has great old fashioned, friendly service, where the owners Lina and Chris know your name and your coffee order. It has a great feel to it with plenty of seating inside and out, and a garden setting out the back under the shade of trees. It's family and dog friendly, with many young parents stopping on their walk to school with their young ones for a treat, a coffee, and catch up before school drop off. The food is delicious and the coffee always consistent, confirmed by the amount of familiar faces you see when you drop in. Very definitely worth the visit if you are new to the area, or just on the lookout for a great...

We were disappointed with how a food mix-up was handled. We were mistakenly served the wrong dishes and had already started eating when staff realised. Despite saying we were happy to continue, a staff member took away my wife’s meal, then came back to take mine too, saying “I have to take yours too” even though I was halfway through it. We were eventually served what we ordered, but the situation felt awkward and poorly managed. A simple, polite question like “Would you prefer to keep it?” would have made a big difference rather than taking away the food we were already having. The food was fine, but the experience left us disappointed. Hopefully this helps improve...

Came here for brunch and enjoyed the Avocado on Sourdough with additional Scrambled Eggs. Really filling and a good amount of food, so definitely recommend coming on an empty stomach if it's brunch o'clock for you too. The coffee is absolutely lovely, I had a Soy Cappuccino and my wife had an Oat Flare White, both of which were a nice temperature on arrival and neither the milk not the beans were burned. Aesthetic on the inside is pretty rustic, bordering on cottagecore. It works well and it's nice, but the seats (on the inside at least) were a little uncomfortable, but fine otherwise. Not enough to detract from the overall experience.

Once upon a Thyme I stumbled onto a coffee shop After taking on the Mount Cootha climb From the base it was just a hop The atmosphere and vibe was great However, for me there was just one issue That it is not open until late Please somebody pass me a tissue I highly recommend this establishment Especially to those who climb Mount Cootha As I regard this as such a great accomplishment Almost as high as Superman taking down Lex Luthor Well, now it is time I return to my garden And pick me a few lemons and one little lime A big thank you to the great people of Bardon For providing me somewhere to have a good Thyme

Excellent cafe with a delightfully friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Great coffee and food, and their Reuben toasted sandwich is a standout favourite. The outdoor seating is dog-friendly so people can even bring their pooches. Well worth a visit.
