Read moreRespectfully, I ask Lumbr to please refrain from replying to this review. I know there's a temptation to address all feedback with a rebuttal but frankly, sometimes mistakes are simply made and you must be judged for them. Furthermore, taste is subjective.
The quality of the food regarding texture and flavour was fairly disappointing, especially for the steep asking price (comparable and in fact more expensive than most Cafe food served in the CBD). Orders were not served as requested, though they apologised and gave a discount, this does not mitigate the actual failing. If you know you failed, why not just remake the order, except correctly?
Emphasising presentation for portion size is a mistake, unless the food is actually superb, so why is it so heavily under seasoned? While this can be somewhat rectified at the table, the lack of seasoning during the cooking process ends up with an overseasoned exterior and an underseasoned interior.
Secondly, the choice of ingredients was really disappointing. The hollandaise in particular tasted like cream, which a hollandaise really shouldn't taste like (our stuff tasted shelf stable, like it was store bought). The chipolatas had a fairly rubbery texture, the big breakfast was missing staples like mushrooms and hash browns (which were available at additional cost, but seriously what is that asking price?) The vinegar reduction served with the eggs benedict was straight bitter (I. E. Burnt).
The food itself was quite disappointing. Your staff should really rethink the menu and in particular the price - at those prices, I'd expect your bread to be baked in house and your sauces to be made fresh. Considering the area you're located in and what I assume to be a relatively low rent, I really question where the cost is going - it's certainly not to a quality chef (seriously who mucks up a poached egg so bad it has to be scrambled into rubber. Utter skill issue. You'd be laughed out of most commercial kitchens)
Otherwise service was good (but mistakes from orders are reflected on service) and the atmosphere was quite good.
In conclusion, avoid unless you're clout-chasing for...
Read moreDecided to finally give Lumbr a try yesterday, TLDR weâll be back again asap!
My partner and I were greeted promptly by a super friendly and warm guy who poured us cold waters. He let us know we had come during community hour, so all of our house made drinks were free which I think is such a cool initiative. We ordered coffees and breakfast, both of which came relatively fast. The coffees were served with bite sized brownie portions which is such a lovely touch, and yummy! My iced latte was one of the best Iâve had in months đ Our meals were hot, presented well and most importantly, tasty! We had the house beans with feta and good old faithful bacon and eggs. Sometimes the classics are the way to go and these didnât disappoint. The environment was relaxed and welcoming, I watched as multiple customers were greeted and served in a friendly manner each time and everyone was addressed by name. We were checked on throughout our meal and it was super affordable!! Customer service was well rounded and consistent by all staff we encountered. We will definitely...
