If you're hunting for a local gem tucked away in the industrial pockets of Sumner, Lumbr CafĂŠ is the place to be.

A perfect blend of laid-back vibes, stellar coffee, and a surprisingly innovative food menu, Lumbr is one of those places that instantly makes you feel like a regular—even on your first visit.

🛋️ Ambience & Vibe

Set in a semi-industrial location, Lumbr manages to create a warm, rustic, and welcoming atmosphere.

Think polished concrete floors, exposed timber, hanging greenery, and chilled acoustic tunes humming in the background.

Whether you're there for a quiet solo coffee, a work meeting, or a catch-up with friends, the seating is versatile—indoor, outdoor, and even a few cozy corners for those needing a moment of stillness.

☕ Coffee

The coffee here is consistently outstanding. Whether you're a flat white purist, a long black enthusiast, or chasing the perfect batch brew, the baristas at Lumbr deliver with care and precision.

The beans are locally roasted, and the flavour profile leans toward nutty, chocolatey notes with a smooth finish.

Iced lattes on hot days are particularly refreshing and never watered down—just strong, creamy, and ice-cold perfection.

🍳 Food

The menu strikes a perfect balance between classic brunch staples and creative twists. Highlights include:

Smashed Avo with Beetroot Hummus – vibrant, hearty, and beautifully plated.

Spicy Chicken Burger – crispy fried chicken with a tangy slaw and housemade aioli on a toasted milk bun. Absolutely addictive.

Lumbr Brekkie Roll – packed with bacon, egg, hash brown, and a signature chutney—perfect for on-the-go.

Seasonal Salad Bowls – generous, fresh, and flavour-packed. Ideal for a light but satisfying option.

They also cater to dietary needs with plenty of GF, vegan, and vegetarian options.

🍰 Baked Goods & Treats

The baked selection is always fresh and enticing—muffins, brownies, croissants, and rotating specialty slices. Their Biscoff cheesecake and gluten-free raspberry almond slice are crowd favourites.

🌟 Service

The service at Lumbr is what truly sets it apart.

The team is friendly, efficient, and genuinely passionate about what they do.

They remember names and orders, offer great recommendations, and always deliver with a smile. The vibe is never rushed, even during peak times.

🅿️ Parking

Plenty of parking right outside or nearby, which is a huge bonus in this area.

Final Thoughts: Lumbr Café is one of Sumner’s best-kept secrets—a perfect go-to for quality coffee, delicious food, and relaxed vibes.

Whether you're a local tradie, a remote worker, or just exploring the area, Lumbr is...

Respectfully, I ask Lumbr to please refrain from replying to this review. I know there's a temptation to address all feedback with a rebuttal but frankly, sometimes mistakes are simply made and you must be judged for them. Furthermore, taste is subjective.

The quality of the food regarding texture and flavour was fairly disappointing, especially for the steep asking price (comparable and in fact more expensive than most Cafe food served in the CBD). Orders were not served as requested, though they apologised and gave a discount, this does not mitigate the actual failing. If you know you failed, why not just remake the order, except correctly?

Emphasising presentation for portion size is a mistake, unless the food is actually superb, so why is it so heavily under seasoned? While this can be somewhat rectified at the table, the lack of seasoning during the cooking process ends up with an overseasoned exterior and an underseasoned interior.

Secondly, the choice of ingredients was really disappointing. The hollandaise in particular tasted like cream, which a hollandaise really shouldn't taste like (our stuff tasted shelf stable, like it was store bought). The chipolatas had a fairly rubbery texture, the big breakfast was missing staples like mushrooms and hash browns (which were available at additional cost, but seriously what is that asking price?) The vinegar reduction served with the eggs benedict was straight bitter (I. E. Burnt).

The food itself was quite disappointing. Your staff should really rethink the menu and in particular the price - at those prices, I'd expect your bread to be baked in house and your sauces to be made fresh. Considering the area you're located in and what I assume to be a relatively low rent, I really question where the cost is going - it's certainly not to a quality chef (seriously who mucks up a poached egg so bad it has to be scrambled into rubber. Utter skill issue. You'd be laughed out of most commercial kitchens)

Otherwise service was good (but mistakes from orders are reflected on service) and the atmosphere was quite good.

In conclusion, avoid unless you're clout-chasing for...

Decided to finally give Lumbr a try yesterday, TLDR we’ll be back again asap!

My partner and I were greeted promptly by a super friendly and warm guy who poured us cold waters. He let us know we had come during community hour, so all of our house made drinks were free which I think is such a cool initiative. We ordered coffees and breakfast, both of which came relatively fast. The coffees were served with bite sized brownie portions which is such a lovely touch, and yummy! My iced latte was one of the best I’ve had in months 🙌 Our meals were hot, presented well and most importantly, tasty! We had the house beans with feta and good old faithful bacon and eggs. Sometimes the classics are the way to go and these didn’t disappoint. The environment was relaxed and welcoming, I watched as multiple customers were greeted and served in a friendly manner each time and everyone was addressed by name. We were checked on throughout our meal and it was super affordable!! Customer service was well rounded and consistent by all staff we encountered. We will definitely...

Really enjoyed our experience at Lumbr today. Delicious hot drinks and food served by lovely friendly staff. My friend enjoyed the Mushroom dish while I enjoyed the Eggs Benedict on a potato waffle. We were both very surprised at the quality and standard of food from this hidden gem! The chef/cook team create such delicious and beautifully plated meals. I forgot to take photos, (I'll be honest I got excited to try my potato waffle! 🤣) but I shall be returning soon with my husband and will make sure I take some then! Updated 30/6/2024 returned with my husband today. Food was delicious again and I didn't realise you guys are serving bear bones coffee which I love!! Sat inside this time and got to enjoy the ambience. Staff very friendly and attentive just like last time. Took some photos to share of my delicious Eggs Benedict with bacon on that mighty fine potato waffle (again, couldn't resist!) and the outside area perfect if you are out with your dog ☺️ will be back again with friends next time! Keep it up guys ❤️

People saying the food here is 5/5 either have no tastebuds or are extremely affluent and don't understand the meaning of value for money... The food was EXTREMELY expensive for what you get. Also very bland... adding salt and pepper on top doesn't help it. I ordered the eggs benny for $21.90 (which was only 1 x slice of sourdough, 2 x poached eggs, some spinach and 3 small pieces of ham) and the holandaise just tasted like cream?? - it's supposed to taste like butter and egg yolks. I asked for poached eggs that were set, and they came out runny. The presentation of the food was fancy (as you can see in the attached picture), but not at all worth the price. Can't fault the general service and atmosphere - staff were nice and the cafĂŠ itself is cute, but does not make up for the disappointing food.
