Chanced upon this bakery and it quickly became my favourite cafe! I didn't dine there but ordered takeaway instead. But there's plenty of parking nearby and outdoor seats which would be nice for a quiet catchup.
Overall I think their pastries and cakes are not too sweet, and fresh and have a light texture which makes them suitable for everyone, including the elderly. Nothing is overpowering yet the subtle flavours make them truly enjoyable.
Apple Crumble Danish (5/5) - like another reviewer mentioned, this is one of my favourite Danish pantries I've ever had as the fruit is fresh and crunchy, and so are the crumbles. Strawberry Danish (4/5) - Fresh strawberries and custard but I still prefer the apple crumble Danish better Potato, Cheese and Chives Pastry (5/5) - Hands down one of the best I've ever tried! So flakey and unique that I've had it twice in a row. Houjicha slice (5/5)- So light and fluffy I've finished it in less than a minute 😋 Creme Brulee Tart (5/5) - Again this is so good that I had it twice in a row. Beautiful and delightful to have! Creme Brulee Cheesecake (5/5) - Again light texture and left me craving for more. A generous slice. Yuzu Matcha Tart (4/5) - Love the subtle blend of flavours and texture but not their best work in my opinion. Strawberry shortcake (5/5) - Light and fluffy, love it! Lemon tart (4/5) - This is my all-time favourite however I did find the curd just a tad too sweet, and the crust a bit heavy. It’s not the best lemon tart I had although the presentation was great.
The lady who served me was pleasant and I appreciated her honesty when I enquired about the shelf life of the cakes.
I will be back to the rest of...
Read moreMy favorite cafe of 2023 (and 2024 at the moment). This small bakery has one of Brisbane's best patissier/patissiere (in my opinion)
Their flaky pastries and croissants are a very exquisite balance of flavors and textures that just leaves you wanting more. The pain au chocolat and the almond croissants are one of the best in Brisbane (imho). I actually prefer them over Lune's or Bambam's.
One must also try the potato cheese and chive. The savoury taste, the flaky crust, the just firm but thin slices of potatoes layered underneath is just a heavenly mesh of texture and taste. 🥰
And to finish, don't forget to take away a matcha redbean swiss roll (or the hojicha). So beautifully light, and the usual strong flavors of matcha and red bean are expertly tempered. The mochi center is an interesting addition as well. The roll isn't too sweet which really makes it the perfect light pairing for a nice afternoon tea with friends 🥰
Service was decently quick (though both times I've visited there were no crowds so don't take my word for it).
I definitely recommend a visit for all croissant lovers like me!)
It is, as the name describes it, small. So be aware that seating might be challenging on...
Read moreStopped in to buy a cake for a special occassion based on my sister's recommendation. Popped into the store in person. There is limited parking in front of the shop itself however street parking is available. There was a small range of cakes and rolls on display the day I visited. I am reading from other views they do online orders. I imagine there'd be a bigger range to choose from online. We chose the lemon cake, which was beautifully presented. It was on the small side but we made do for our group of 7 by cutting it up into small pieces. Where it lacked in size it made up for in presentation and taste. It was dense (like an orange cake) with suble hints of lemon, which wasn't overpowering. Friendly service. Would recommend buying from here for a special occasion, especially if you want something different to what The Cheesecake...
