Nestled in the heart of a picturesque setting, The Glen Hotel is a culinary gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience across three beautifully designed spaces: The Deck, Alphonsus Pizza, Lilly and a charming indoor area that seamlessly melds comfort with elegance.
Our recent visit was a delightful exploration of flavors at Alphonsus Pizza, where we were treated to a selection of pizzas that were nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment the menu was presented, it was evident that each dish was crafted with passion and precision. The choice of ingredients is impeccable, featuring locally sourced produce that not only supports the community but also guarantees freshness in every bite.
As the pizzas arrived at our table, we were captivated by the beautiful presentation. Each piece was a work of art, with vibrant colors and enticing aromas teasing our senses. The crust was perfectly charred, boasting a delightful crunch that contrasted beautifully with the rich, savory toppings. We opted for a variety - let’s talk about the star of the show: the smoked salmon. Thinly sliced and expertly layered, it brings an unparalleled depth of flavor. The smokiness is perfectly balanced, adding a luxurious, savory dimension that pairs beautifully with the fresh pesto. It’s an absolute treat for seafood lovers and offers a unique take on traditional pizza. The pizza is further embellished with dollops of creamy goat cheese or ricotta (depending on the preparation), which adds a luscious creaminess that complements the smoky richness of the salmon. Each bite is a delightful contrast of textures and flavors, with the silky cheese melding beautifully with the crispy crust and aromatic pesto.
Beyond the pizza, The Glen Hotel, with its exceptional offerings and attention to detail, has truly set the bar high. Whether you’re indulging in a stunning pizza at Alphonsus or enjoying the serene atmosphere at The Deck, each visit is a celebration of taste and quality. Highly recommend booking a table/walk-ins are allowed, to savor what this remarkable establishment has to offer; it is an experience not...
Read moreI've been going here a few times a week for a while now. The bar staff are fantastic and you really couldn't ask for anything more, however the resteraunt manager let's the whole place down. I ordered a steak as I generally do because it's normally fantastic but they have a new special, a rib-eye for $80. I asked for mine to be rare as per usual and people with me had theirs medium. Mine come out well done and tough, I wouldn't normally complain if it was eatable and I didn't spend $80 just in the steak.. I took it back and said sorry but this isn't how I ordered it and the cashier said no it's not. Then while I'm back at my table having a chat with friends I get this rude lady come up to our table, but in and hold my steak Infront of me and say so you want it cooked less than this.. I said yes please my cousin is medium and as you can see it looks a lot rarer than that. She stomped off and then ten minutes later a waitress come over with a new meal and said is this how you want it cooked. I said that looks much better thank you. Then I cut into it and it was absolutely raw. I mean I touched it and it was chilled in the middle. This whole time the manager had been standing behind my table watching us as one of my friends had brung it up while we were waiting for my food asking why does she keep looking at us? I took it back to her and said I don't know what's going on, I come here a few times a week and spend a lot of money here and this is just taking the piss, its raw and even cold to touch and I won't be back here to eat again you can stick it. She said nothing and we walked out. I emailed management and got zero reply so they obviously don't care about locals or customers. There are plenty of places out there that will treat you better, make you what you paid for and not stalk you when you have a problem with their poor service. As I said the bar staff are fabulous...

I need to start by applauding your delicious pizza, which has had me ordering for more over the past month and a half. Last week, my friend and I visited the first time and left your restaurant feeling valued.
Now, let's address yesterday's incident. Your security guard asked for the ids to which I said I have digital copies. Upon showing up my passport and license, he insisted on an official app for ID. I didn't have any so I tried to use my covid certificate on the myGov app to prove my age and he could have checked my IDs which has my photo and DOB same as covid certificate, to which he flat-out denied it and refused to acknowledge our presence. But understandable as it is a certificate, not an id. But we said, we are not drinking anyway so he can consider digital copy but again he was barely looking at us. Until this point, we thought that he was just doing his job.
Later, after a trip to retrieve my license, we returned to find another staff member who didn't even bother asking for our IDs. It was quite the contrast. It left us wondering if our ethnicity played a role in his behaviour as he barely acknowledged us.
As soon as we entered, we thought of dessert so requested an Apple Pie Crumble at 10:00 pm, and the response from the ladies was a blunt and impolite "WE ARE CLOSED." This was despite the EFTPOS machine and ice creams being readily available and they were winding up but if they wanted to, they could have. Not a big deal with this one though.
Overall, it was an intriguing visit, especially given the initial encounter with security. It might be worth investigating the consistency of service...
