Deeply disappointed with their attitudes towards hygiene and customer service.
As regular customers of Bull Creek Hawker for many years, my husband and I have always appreciated their food. However, our visit today left us shocked and disappointed, so I'm leaving a review, hoping that the restaurant addresses its customer service issues.
During my meal of seafood laksa (a dish I've enjoyed countless times here), I discovered a hair, approximately 4cm long, halfway through my bowl. Understanding that accidents can happen, I 'discreetly' brought my bowl to the cash counter where the server lady was taking orders, specifically to avoid drawing attention to the situation from other diners.
Her reaction was something I didn't expect. She simply took the bowl without a word. When she returned, her very first statement was, "No one in the kitchen has long hair." This comment was not only dismissive but deeply insulting. I was furious and frustrated by this immediate denial of responsibility and lack of basic courtesy.
Despite my anger, I accepted her offer for another bowl. To my disbelief, within a minute or two, she brought back what she brazenly claimed was a "new" bowl. It was undeniably the exact same bowl I had just handed her with extra soup on top. I had ordered rice noodles only, while my husband had egg noodles, and he had given me a few strands of his egg noodles which were still present in the bowl. Furthermore, the number of squid pieces was the same, and the prawns I had already removed were absent. Her insistence that it was a new bowl felt like a blatant lie and a complete disrespect for me.
At this point, my anger escalated. All I had initially wanted was a simple apology – a recognition that a mistake had occurred, which I would have understood. Instead, I was met with denial, an implied accusation, and then an attempt to pass off my old, contaminated meal as fresh. When I pointed out that I knew it was the same bowl, the server's response was, "I don't know what's going on in the kitchen." This only made me more disappointed.
This kind of attitude is entirely unacceptable. As a long-standing customer, I expected, at the very least, an apology for the hair and honesty regarding the replacement. The experience was not just unpleasant; it was disrespectful and frankly, quite appalling.
She later offered a refund. Even while handing out $18.50, she said, "See? None of us has short hair," which was insulting.
What I wanted was a sincere apology. It was as...
Read moreI've been a regular customer of Bull Creek Hawker for many years. This is a bz restaurant and prices used to be fair. I was in there this morning and ordered a takeaway meal consisting of half a steam chicken with 3 large packs of chicken rice. I was given 1 container of chilli for 3 large packs of rice, so I requested for 1 more serving for which I was charged an additional dollar. The cashier told me that it is a recent practice to charge extra since I was already given a "FREE" chilli in my takeaway order. If you know your Hainanese Chicken rice, it is always served with Chilli, Ginger and Chicken Soup. If u dine in then u get everything as a package. One is even allowed for extra chilli at no extra cost! Without these condiments, one cannot savour the chicken rice if you know what I mean. It's like eating pancakes without the maple syrup. So how is it that the chilli given to me is considered "FREE"? Am I not paying for the chicken, rice and the condiment (Chilli) as a meal? Food costing will include the condiments right? I wasn't given any ginger, chicken soup or cutlery in my takeaway! One pays the same for takeaway or dine in. Why can't the biz owners see that as a trade off between dining in and takeaway? It's not fair to charge extras when one could have all of the above at no extra charges when dining in!!! Some genius in there had a bright spark of making extra dollars 🙄 And the cashier went on ranting about the FREE chilli in my order! To cut a long story short, I paid close to $30 for my order and walked off. The management should devise other alternatives to making extra bucks than ripping off their customers. As a regular customer I felt that my patronage wasn't valued. We are spoilt for choices when it comes to good Malaysian/Singaporean foods at reasonable prices within the proximity. Won't recommend Bull Creek Hawker if this rip off continues... Check out Tai Son Restaurant at Southland Mall Willetton. All the factors...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Bull Creek Hawker
I was really looking forward to trying out Bull Creek Hawker again with it new ownership, but unfortunately, my experience was a huge disappointment. The standard of food and service have dropped significantly.
The Char Kway Teow was a major letdown. The dish lacked the signature Wok Hei smoky, charred flavour that makes the dish so delicious. Instead it was bland, the noodles were overly greasy and the prawns were overcooked. Same with the Hor Fun noodles which also lacked the Wok Hei flavour and instead had a soggy texture, which completely ruined the dish. Lastly, the Hainanese chicken rice were dry, and lacked the fragrance and texture that should make it the star of the dish. Overall, all the dishes were bland and lacked any real depth of flavour.
Hey, chef where is your passion and quality control?? Someone, anyone, please take some responsibility ! You showed a lack of respect to your paying customers who help pay your bills and keep your restaurant open in these challenging cost of living times.
I expected much better quality, flavour, and authenticity. What was served was not authentic great Malaysian food ! I won’t be coming back anytime soon. Overall, the food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the price. The place definitely needs to a facelift, it is looking tired and old and the level of cleanliness is very poor.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone seeking good hawker food. Do not waste your hard earned money here. There are plenty of other restaurants (like Hong Kei, Chop Chop BBQ and Ipoh Garden) that offer better food, customer service, and value for your money. Bull Creek Hawker used to be great in the past but has unfortunately missed the mark now. Look at the majority of the recent low reviews that you have been getting, your customers are telling you areas that you need...
