Went here with mates as they recommended. Great atmosphere and lovely service although we got a chicken schnitzel with chips and salad... $26 is hefty in general for this type of pub meal as you can get it at plenty of other pubs for around the $22-$25 mark, here or there. But they had this option to pay an extra $3 to go "Large". My partner and I thought, let's order the large option and share because one of our mates said the meals were quite large in general and we aren't huge eaters either. Well, we paid $29 for the large option and opted to share... But had to go back to order a cheesy garlic bread as the meal came out and looked like a normal meal. The salad was lacking and very small and it was basically a small hand full of chips so by the time we divided it up, it was so small. I'm disappointed. The schnitzel was so basic too, so small, no taste and the crumbing was so thick and fell away from the chicken, no seasoning in or on it what so ever. I don't think we would return, even though the service was nice and it was a nice atmosphere. We are put off by the food and price of it for...
Read moreFirst time having dinner here and maybe it was an off night. Was barely acknolwedged by staff member taking order. Ordered a standard Burger and a Korean Burger. Both burgers and chips cold. Not just warm, they were room temperature. The Korean Burger had coleslaw that had soaked into the bun making it soggy it had been sitting for so long. The standard hamburger was undercooked (I know some high end chefs cook mince medium rare - but Australian food guidelines recommend cooking mince through. No disrespect but the Chinderah Tavern does not qualify as a high end eating establishment.) Kitchen already had someone at window complaining about their food when we went to the kitchen to address the issue. Hamburgers and chips are basic. To get it so wrong does not inspire confidence to throw money down for the more expensive fare on the menu. Pity, as it's in a great position and has a lively pub vibe. As I said, maybe it was an off night, maybe a new chef, but I...
Read moreI had salt & pepper calamari tonight. There was something that looked like an olive between the salad & calamari which I took a bite & crumbled in my mouth so I spat it out.. The chips were overcooked & filled with oil, the calamari also was overcooked. I asked for a lemon & the person gave it to me from her hand (no tongs). When I took my plate back to them, one said the black thing was parsley & the other 3 had no idea. I’ve never seen parsley in their salads before either. I told them they need to filter their oils. They not once offered me any sort of compensation & I told them I will never eat there again. Such a shame as I used to go twice a week a while back. Back to the Kingy...
