Salty Dog Cafe Coolongolook, what an absolute little treasure of a spot!! I don't even know where to begin with this review!

We just left there and had popped in just before closing time (I didn't even realise)

My family and I arrived at 750 (I didn't look at the time) and asked if they were closing and these beautiful ladies said no not at all we're just cleaning while we have the chance, not making me feel like I had put them out in any way at all!

I ordered fish and chips for my partner, 5 kids and I, just a little something to get us through till we get home and the servings we recieved were massive, I'm glad I only bought 3!! We got the fish and chips, a coffee and a couple nuggets and it was UNDER $50.

My kids were very impressed and although young a couple went and expressed their appreciation for the very yummy food they received.

Upon our departure(nearly an hour later) I asked what time they closed and the lady said eight o'clock, I was mortified and apologised for holding them up and they were so lovely, bubbly and super friendly and even stopped to talk to my kids.

Will absolutely be back when we head back down and will be sure to pass on the details of this little hidden restaurant to those I know travelling through.

This lovely place is a must visit. On our road trip from Brisbane to Sydney, Coolongolook smoke house was the perfect rest stop. Every aspect of this establishment is to be commended.

Food - amazing quality pies, pastries, rolls. The meat inside the pies are generous, real chunks of beef that are rich and Smokey. So fresh out of the oven that we had to wait for them to cool down!! You can just see from the photo that the brekkie roll was packed with all sorts of smoked meats. two eggs and meat encased in a crusty roll for less than $20 is a steal that lasted two meals!

The service was lovely. All the workers were so friendly and keen to chat about the NRL grand final we had driven down for. Such warm service made this experience even better. It’s great to support local small businesses that truely care about their food.

The space itself is open and welcoming. With kids activities areas, outdoor and undercover seating, this restaurant is great for a quick stop or a long break.

Overall I will be stopping here every time I drive around the area! Great...

Been here twice. 1st time found fish & steak sandwiches okay, filled the spot but pricing a little high. Returned as we heard pies are great but VERY disappointing when we were left waiting for over 5minutes while 3 staff members chatted. Once we asked what pies they had the lady told us they're all out, but we seen pies in display which she then said are yesterday's pies that we could take home to heat if we wanted. This is a business on the Pacific Hwy, the main hwy to QLD. Obviously majority of us don't live nearby to go reheat food. NO offer to heat them & above all - the lady was extremely abrupt & made it clear she didn't care about our business. I would not recommend the smoke house - you will get much better service, food & value from the BP across the road ** Have to acknowledge owner responding in such a positive way, helping to improve any concerns from customers.
