Storyteller: The Baron's Tasting House — Restaurant in Deniliquin

What a brilliant venue! Storyteller is a place that treats its customers as guests. It has a warm and welcoming, and at the same time, dark and mysterious atmosphere with a beautifully custom made burled wooden bar stocked with some of the most unique spirits and liqueurs that you could hope to find. The tequila section alone is a homage to Mexico. An open fire, comfortable bar seats and couches to imbibe in and the staff are very cool and accomodating, you'll wish this was your local cocktail bar, that could be in any international city in the world; Melbourne, New York, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Barcelona... this is a cool spot that has a timeless ambience. The Baron has put together a little masterpiece of a venue that also has live performances that you couldn't see anywhere else within 100 kilometres. If you are travelling through Deniliquin or anywhere near the town you should definitely make the trip to this diamond...

I can’t vouch for the bar, though every other 5 star review will do that.

What I can vouch for is the character of the owner. I recently met The Barron and in a world of characters, he is one of the greatest characters I have met. Full of knowledge, wisdom, whimsy and kindness, I have been left impressed.

When considering where to spend our time and money, I would suggest that the kindness of the owner, is of far greater importance than the taste...

A beautifully decorated place that unfortunately didnt live up to its aesthetics. An interesting character at the bar who introduced himself as "The Baron", who seems like a nice enough fellow. Outrageously overpriced liquors on sale, but sorely lacking in the basic knowledge of cocktail construction and bar skill. Could be excellent with some cocktail mixing education.
