Locale Pizzeria in Canberra has garnered a lot of buzz, and after my recent visit, I can see why some people are enthusiastic about it. However, my experience left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed, earning it an average three-star rating.
The ambiance of Locale is inviting, with a chic yet casual vibe that makes it a nice spot for a laid-back meal. The dim lighting and rustic decor create a cozy atmosphere perfect for enjoying a night out with friends or family. From the outset, the staff were friendly and welcoming, which added a nice touch to the overall experience.
As for the menu, the selection of pizzas is impressive, featuring a variety of toppings and combinations. I decided to try the classic Margherita, while my dining partner opted for the Pepperoni pizza. The presentation was spot-on, and I was eager to dig in. The crust was well-baked, but unfortunately, it didn't have the crispiness I was hoping for; it felt a bit doughy in the center.
Though the sauce and cheese were flavorful, the overall taste was somewhat lacking in depth. Both pizzas left me wanting a bit more seasoning and character—perhaps a sprinkle of herbs or a drizzle of olive oil could have elevated the experience. My dining partner felt the same way about their Pepperoni, noting that while it was decent, it didn’t stand out as exceptional.
One aspect worth reviewing was the quick time it took to complete our pizzas! So quick which was refreshing as it usually takes ages from other places.
Overall, Locale Pizzeria has great potential with its concept and inviting space. However, the execution fell short of my expectations. While it’s an alright choice for a casual pizza night, I think I’ll be looking for other options that offer a more refined flavor profile in the future. For now, it earns a solid three stars from me, and I hope they can fine-tune their recipes and service to elevate the experience for...
Read moreHad a birthday celebration there. Booked through google and asked for a quiet spot to sit.
We were put right by the kitchen but the staff member asked if it was ok for us as the music was loud. We did not change the seats but asked if they could turn the volume down a bit.
Garlic bread came fast but not much garlic flavour. Occasionally you would taste some salt and rosemary (as I remember). We saw our salad ready but sitting on the bench while pizzas were made, that took a long time. Then there were very limit space to put everything on the table.
I would suggest to ask customers if they'd like to have them separately or perhaps offer to serve the salad for each person, it doesn't take long but can get rid of the plate sooner so the customers will have more space to enjoy their main.
Pear salad was a waste of money I think. Rocket salad, a few slices of hard pear and topped with cheese and drizzled olive oil. It was hard to eat, not much of flavour, really hard to toss/mix everything as the plate/space is not big enough.
One of the pizza was really salty, but I can't remember what's called, it's the one with all meat.

Read moreDisappointing experience. We had a table booked for 5:30pm and at 10 minutes before 5pm we received a text message to say the restaurant had changed our booking time to 5 pm. I called them because we were at least half an hour away and they asked if we could come at 5pm. Trying to help them out, I said we would hurry and arrived at 5:20pm. At 6:30pm, just after we had ordered our dessert, we were asked to move from our table because some other people had arrived and wanted our specific table. We were then seated at a bar area with someone else’s dirty water glasses and a half full water bottle in front of us. To top it off, we were told the dessert would take 15 minutes to arrive, yet we waited at that bar with the other peoples’ dirty water glasses, for 45 minutes for it. A young girl serving us looked a bit helpless and embarrassed, and did offer some financial compensation, but the lady who appeared to be in a more senior position behind the bar was just dismissive and disinterested. A shame to be so let down, because the food was...
