18 of us, retired nurses met there for a reunion lunch. Had been here many times for morning coffee & cake...great! I was first in line to order lunch...some lunches came straight away...after one hour, my order still hadn't come..also one other lady. By the time mine came...the others had finished. My zucchini balls were great....Didn't get the side salad I'd paid for...had to ask again for it. My friend at the other end of our long table was still waiting....When her's came she had to get it in a takeaway container..90 mins after ordering as she was getting picked up for an appointment.
The waiter was very pleasant about checking on our orders...something about the order not being printed properly to the kitchen.
One of the ladies had a chicken + toastie...couldn’t eat it as the chicken was too tough to eat. Said she would never come back.
Only about 5 of us had time for coffee after the food...but we had to leave the marquee and go ouside, as we were so uncomfortably hot...got to 27° that afternoon...and not one section of the plastic wall sheeting was opened up for air.
Our coffee was good, but not really hot when it got to us.
We chose this place for lunch because we all know it and love it...but will never come for lunch...
Read moreWhat is a beautiful setting at the Gallery Cafe was let down by poor food and lukewarm coffee. Today we decided to order Goulash with tumeric rice and sour cream and received dried out rice with goulash that didn't have any sauce. No vegies either which would have been appreciated and at $23.50 it was pretty disappointing. I ordered coffees and asked for extra hot and was again disappointed when it arrived lukewarm. The final disappointment was a toilet that didn't flush and empty soap dispenser and hilariously a tap that was loose and almost at 45 degree wobble. While the bird population should be enjoyable as they flutter about the trees and their warbling enchanting, their swooping onto tables to help themselves to leftovers seems an unhealthy situation. I watched as the birds became increasingly more brazen enjoying drinking from the cups and glasses and strutting over the tables to eat crumbs and leftovers. Oh and the Lemon Curd tart had soft pastry. Maybe that's how they like it I didn't. The Gallery Cafe is disappointing for a place that could be so vibrant if management was serious about providing great food and coffee and managed it's facility so birds were not helping themselves and toilet facilities worked!...
Read moreTook my mother for breakfast on Friday, first outing in a long time as she is undergoing chemotherapy. My sisters family was joining us. My mother sat at two small round outdoor tables that were not reserved in the sun. (We sit apart as it’s a covid risk for my mum) One table for our family and one for my sisters family. (Other tables were in the shade, cold and not reserved)
While ordering inside I could hear yelling outside, walked out to find Lilian the staff member yelling at my mother. Yelling at her for sitting at the tables and telling her to get up and sit somewhere else (in the shade) She said we should have called. Told her I had called while driving there but there was no answer, she said oh well, you need to keep calling. How disrespectful.
What a horrible experience (given Lilian knows who we are as we try to go there whenever we can) and for us to get screamed at is unacceptable. What a horrible and upsetting...
