29 Cafe & Eatery — Restaurant in District of Woden Valley

Took my fellah here to grab some takeaway and went by Lake Burley Griffin to hook in. I'm very fortunate to have what is fast becoming recognised as Canberra's best, just a few hundred metres from where I live. #bragbutshhhhhh

He rated his roast pork banh mi the best he's ever had. Previously his fave was the Majura joint. There was lotsa crackling. He got halfway through before coming up for air, and considering that the meal was photo worthy n snapped a pic, so here tis.

I'm not a real porky pork gal (I know, I don't deserve my half Italian heritage) so have only had their lemongrass chicken roll before. I had their Pho Gai this round, so this time story isn't about me, but I can say I've had the best banh mi from this joint I've had, outside of Vietnam. It even kicks the hind quarters of some I've had from within Vietnam.

$12 for the roast pork, pork loaf, n lemongrass chicken varieties. All the good stuff (pate, mayo etc) and the daikon is crispy, sweet and ommmmnomnom. Enough chili and coriander to taste (I am a fiend for it, and always want moar). Yet to give the "oop la" egg variety a go (better be runny egg... Stay tuned...

The service here is fantastic, such friendly and committed staff members. Mia is awesome, and treats all clients individually, and really knows her stuff." Service with a Smile" ( Mia's Motto ) It doesn't get any better than that

QUICK UPDATE.. Saddened to see that My Gourmet Delights is currently closed due to some exciting new improvements being made, but the GOOD NEWS is that it will be reopening around Christmas time, so I can't wait to see the " New Look "" Thank you Mai and the team for the update Update 13/04/2024 - Good news it looks like My Gourmet Delights will be reopening soon...I can't wait to see the new refurbished premises. Update 20/05/2024 - Well it was certainly worth waiting for,What an incredible makeover, it looks fantastic and is so warm and inviting, so well done to Mai and the team for creating this wonderful new Cafe & Eatery.. I had to jump on here and tell more people about the food here, this place absolutely deserves the praise. The staff are some of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever encountered in hospitality. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, with a calm confidence that lets their food do all the talking.

Every dish was rich with flavour, soul, and tradition. I honestly didn’t expect to find such an authentic Vietnamese experience in Canberra, but here it is—hidden in plain sight!

If you’re craving real Vietnamese food, made with heart and served with warmth, this is the spot. I can’t recommend them enough. 🥲💛
