Evoke Bakery — Restaurant in District of Woden Valley

“A Big Let Down” Went to the bakery today Saturday 27th July 2024 around noon. Only two lady staffs, not busy and I was the only customer. The darker hair staff was extremely not friendly ! I asked what were the pastries on the shelves, she can’t bother to walk a few steps closer to the shelf and explain to me and yet stood still in front of the register counter. She told me in a very rude attitude: She can’t see from her angle, everything is written ! I asked for some pastries and a baguette (on the shelf) instead she gave me a Burn Baguette (that’s not on the shelf). I felt humiliated and very disappointed with the service and the pastries definitely not as mentioned “award winning” . So many other...

I like to think of myself as a meat pie connoisseur. I give Evoke 4 stars. The pastry was my favourite, crispy with top flakes and didn't crumble on me. However was not such a fan of the filling, ratio was a bit out and not enough gravy for me. Although I am a lover of herbs not sure if I got the wrong pies but my chunky steak n mince had veggie filling, which being the carnivore I am came as a shock to the tastebuds - but nonetheless the meat was tasty and satisfied my cravings. Overall nice to see a new bakery at Curtin shops with friendly welcoming faces....

Multigrain sourdough bread was very nice, however one of the counter staff lady is quite rude and dismissive. While waiting for it to be sliced, I asked if they had any croissants. I got a rude and gruff “behind me.” I couldn’t see what varieties they had, and since she avoided any eye contact and obviously had no interest in helping me anymore, I chose not to bother purchasing any.
