The pub proper is a great place to catch up, have a few drinks and catch up, or catch a Sunday Afternoon music session.
When dining during the week outside of tourist season for locals this has been a traditionally a great place for great value food and one of the better places to grab a casual meal. So much so that I've been recommending friends we go when they are in town but the quality and consistency of food service seems to so hit and miss I'm going to suggest going elsewhere from now on.
Three times in recent weeks I've been stung by the restaurant when bringing visitors as a recommended place to eat when in town.
The restaurant lately has left me and my guests leaving after some very hit and miss food services and I feel it is only fair to adjust the rating accordingly. Orders not coming out correct or on time and when they don't clearly not owning a mistake when it happens. If this happened in peak busy seasons I'm the first one to acknowledge that it's a acceptable when running 100% full and flat out but this happening on ordinary weekend.
With a great selection of other pubs to eat in around town, the Inn is quickly losing its appeal.
Still a great place to go and have a beer, still a great place to stay at if you are visiting Dubbo, but until the Inn restores its consistency with the quality of their meals I'd suggest giving...
Read moreOur family are currently visiting the Dubbo area for a long weekend. We chose to stay at McQuarie Inn & on our first evening dine out at the Macquarie Inn Restaurant. A family member ordered a 250g Frazier Scotch fillet with vegetables & an hour later received a 250g graziers rump steak with salad. The meal was returned as this was not what was ordered. The table attendant took the meal back to the kitchen & replaced the salad with vegetables & said that the meat portion was in fact Scotch fillet & not rump??? We took pictures & sent them through to a family member who just happened to be a chef with over 20 years experience & asked for his opinion. He replied you have been served rump, not scotch fillet! That evening our experience at this restaurant was we were told they were short staffed, it took one hour from the time we ordered our meal till it turned up, the children received their meal 20mins before the adults meal arrived, the wrong meal was served & we strongly believe we were lied to about the cut of meat one family member received. Tonight we've decided to go to the RSL club for our evening meal. Sorry, but this was a very bad service & we know our cuts of meat. Some family members are either retired business owner butchers or...
Read moreWe recently hosted our wedding reception at The Macquarie Inn, and while the venue itself was charming and provided good value for money, there were several logistical challenges that impacted the overall experience. The staff on the evening of the event were exceptional — highly professional, attentive, and instrumental in ensuring the reception ran smoothly. Unfortunately, the service provided by the events coordinator, Taylor, was quite disappointing. Communication was a consistent issue, as multiple emails and phone calls went unanswered, causing undue stress during the planning process. Additionally, there was a lack of clear guidance on the room setup, specifically regarding table and seating arrangements, which led to last-minute changes in the week leading up to the reception. I had to make several in-person visits to the venue to address these concerns directly. While the venue itself met expectations, the coordination and communication leading up to the event were less than...
