Athenia Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

The night went well and the staffs, and the owner of the restaurant was very friendly until at the end of the night when paying the bill. We were very disappointed specially it was my very first greek experience. My friend secured a deposit of $200 for our booking to dine in and when paying, the lady had mistaken our payment and forgot about the $200 deposit my friend paid. Before paying we asked how they wanted us to pay and we were willing to pay in full (the remaining) instead the lady insisted to do individual payments, so we did. The mistake she did was made us pay our meals each and did not deduct the $200 off our total bill, instead they overcharged us and owed us $78. The owner then came and asked what was going on but didn’t understand, and instead of solving the problem in a good manner, he then got mad at us and were using inappropriate words. He thought we were stealing cash off him when we asked if we could get our money that they over charged us with. When handing the cash he was throwing it at us, swore at us and yelled at us on the way out. It was my friend’s birthday..... you had to ruined the night when you could have solved it in a good manner. You didn’t have to use inappropriate words. You have lost 8 good customers to come dine in again. Thanks for your service at the beginning of the night, the two ladies who served us were very nice, I would give them two 5 star rating. To the owner, good luck on your business. Please fix your anger management....

My family booked this restaurant for my birthday dinner. We had confusion and my mum forget to advise the restaurant in advance that we needed 3 more seats. So when we arrived at the restaurant we let them know. The old man who we understand was the chef/cook was blatantly rude about the fact we need to add 3 more seats. He was very rude and basically told us off. My parents were upset about how he spoke to us. My fiance was not happy. If it had been just us we would have walked out and told him to forget our business. But we had 2 more families joining us. So we decided to ignore his rudeness and downright bad attitude. We went to order drinks at the bar and he once again rudely told us to sit down to order the drinks. We sat down and had to wait for the server to come to us. When the 2nd family came in, they ordered drinks at the bar and were promptly served. While we had to wait for our drinks. The server Lily apologised during the meal for the bad service we had received. She definitely tried to make up for it and if it hadn't been for that old man's attitude and rudeness the evening would have been much more enjoyable. The food was great and full of flavour. Unfortunately I will never go back to this restaurant because of the rude old man who should not be allowed to talk to paying customers like he did to us. It was disgusting and repulsive behaviour. My husband Eric Dudman and myself enjoyed a marvellous meal at Athenia restaurant located on The Bolevard in Carrara for our mums 80th birthday. The entree was a choice of two. 1. Garlic sautéed with a cream to die for. 2.nd was stuffed zucchini with mince filling, tomato and crisp salad 🥗.this was super tasty....and filling. Main meal asgain a choice of 2. I picked the chicken fillet with mild chilli and herbs done in stroganoff jus. Beautiful 10/10. The 2.nd course for main meal was the barramundi- HUGE plate but didn’t quite hit Home with this one most complaints coming from(simple people putting extra lemon all over their food before tasting it).... they’re the dumb ones). Still 9/10 Cream brûlée was divine. Silky smooth with crack on th top. Unfortunately for me I couldn’t finish mine so hubby ate it plus his own!10/10 Overall a brilliant evening with outstanding personalities to talk, listen and learn from. This is one restaurant that I will be looking at coming back to. ATHENIA GODDESS OF WAR BUT SHE RULES THAT FOOD! Congratulations to your wait staff that served our food for Lorin zscunke 80th.
