Emerald Lakes Golf Club — Attraction in Gold Coast City

The service at the Pro Shop was great as was the food at the cafe of which was plentiful and not expensive. We had been on the coast to do and early job and decided to play 18 holes before another afternoon job. I will always compare other courses with my home club Bribie Island which I rate at 9.75 (out of ten) for greens,fairways and overall condition. Emerald Lakes left me a little bewilded as being on the Gold Coast you are competing for every visitor you can get and first impressions always last. I found the tee blocks , to be really uncared for , rough, unmowed and genarally needing TLC. At most green, around and down the edge of fairway, I am sure it is kikuyu grass which can grab the club if trying to pitch out, not a criticism but remember. What I did find an issue was crab grass (a weed) around greens which was annoying, not ideal for second cut. We did get a little lost looking for the twelfth hole another direction sign would have been great. Overall the greens and course was good and it was good value ,but give me Bribie...

Stoped to arrange a function. Was talking to the person responsible for the arrangements then we decided to have lunch. It was 1.45pm when we had our discussion with the function organiser then while she went to work out the details we ordered lunch. I decided that I would have the special meal of the day. When I ordered at exactly 2pm the attendant said sorry you are to late to order the lunch special as it is only until 2pm and it was exactly 2pm at tht time. I asked to speek to the duty manager only to be told by him that he was the duty manager. I have never experienced a more rude and abrupt person working in hospitality and especially a so caled duty manager. Considering his attitude he certainly does not come up to the standard expected of a person in his position.
