We visited Coomera Lodge for the Igloo experience, to celebrate a 52nd and 73rd birthday. It was a VERY disappointing experience.
Firstly, the concept of igloos don’t work if they are as hot as hades. I did have hesitations booking as you could clearly see they were plastic domes on the website, however I thought surely they’ll have thought of a way to make this comfortable. They hadn’t. We spent the first 40 minutes of our time, waiting for the igloos to cool down. You absolutely could not sit in the igloos to eat. It would also have benefited from an extra table. Or it would have been even more comfortable to have low tables and cushions for the ground.
The wait staff were trying their best, but it seemed like there was only one staff member to look after about 6 igloos. We didn’t get orders taken for food or the drink included in the package until 30 minutes after arriving. The seating time is supposed to only be 2 hours.
The real let down was the food. The menu on the website is not what we got which was disappointing as you have to prepay to book. So the expectation is you will get the same menu. The wings were ok. The cob loaf was a large serve however 2 of our cob loaves had plastic within the cheese dip! You wouldn’t even expect one, but somehow 2 of the 4 loaves had plastic within the dip. Clearly a major preparation issue in the kitchen. The mains took a really long time from the entree. By the time we got it, we had 20 minutes left in our sitting. The rice in the pulled lamb was undercooked. Crunchy and chalky. The half a chicken was a good size but nearly impossible to eat as you needed to use cutlery but the tables were too small and low. Plus, no staff ever cleared our glasses, so there was just no room to eat comfortably. By the time dessert came, we were pretty over the igloos. However I had my hopes up as I ordered the fondue. Again, on the website and in the promo video it shows a proper mini fondue serving. We got, fruit salad with 2 strawberries cut in half, 2 marshmallows and a ton of cut up apple….with cold chocolate sauce. Not melted chocolate, but sauce you would put on a cheap kids sundae. The other desserts were just as sub standard. The banana split was half of a banana with cream.
Overall the experience was very lacking and substandard especially for the $60pp cost. There is no way the experience was anywhere near the cost per head. We attended with 8 adults at $60pp and 4 kids. We spent a small fortune and we were very let down by...
Read moreThis place has so much potential. But unfortunately the service completely let it down. Went here on a Saturday (which I completely understand is one of the busiest times). Arrived and was told there were no seats available outside, we didn’t want to sit inside so we decided to check for ourselves, there were at least 4-5 large tables available, they had reserved signs on them but it was midday at this point and some reserved signs had a time of 11am (clearly no one showed up) and some had a time of 1.30pm (heads up to staff to maybe check this..)
We took a seat at one of them (and told a staff member that we’d only be here for 45 mins tops so they were fine with it), we ordered off the QR code, 3 out of the 4 beers came, we asked about my friends beer and the staff member said there were no more beers that came through on their system. He asked to see my friends receipt for the purchase which she produced, it was a bit of an eff around and I’m really not sure why he didn’t just go and pour the damn beer... Instead he said he was going to get his manager, the manager never came and we had to go and hunt down a staff member to simply get my friends beer..
In the mean time the ‘Chips with Aioli’ (literally in the title of the dish) didn’t come out with aioli, once again we had to find a staff member to bring that, no S&P on the table, had to find a staff member to ask where we could grab some… The bar manager/supervisor finally arrives at our table to sort out the missing beer, by this point all food has been consumed, the manager asks for proof of purchase, we tell him we have just been through this with his staff member.. he doesn’t budge so we show him.. he tells us he’ll be back.. (we assume he is getting the beer) he comes back and tells us that he has refunded the money for the beer and she’ll receive it in 24 hours, he follows it up with a ‘sorry darl’….. Hot tip: Use some common sense? It was such a simple task that could have been resolved instantly.
Its a shame because the atmosphere and venue itself is really nice. But the staff that we encountered that day really...
Read moreOne star for service. Evening of 8/4/24. Never one to leave negative reviews, I have been on the other end of them. But crikey. This was bad.
Food decent, cocktails overpriced for pre-made product, atmosphere good and presentation modern and clean.
Service is rubbish though. Apart from the servers wearing bucket hats and uniforms slapped together, there is no priority given to the meals of customers, numerous times throughout the night two bar girls and the manager (black shirt with an ear piece) were chilling at the bar while our three tables had dishes literally stacked with glasses everywhere.
When food was delivered entree plates left, cutlery taken not replenished, no coasters, drinks taking too long. Overstaffed with team members not managed or trained to do their job - this is not their fault - they were fantastic once we spoke to them.
This is a management issue having no standards of service or presence obviously.
I personally took all our three tables glasses to the bar after alerting the bar staff twice. I also asked twice for our tables to be cleared, it was only after I walked over to the pass and got someone from there that our tables were cleared and cake plates sent to the table for the birthday girl in our booking.
Being at numerous AVC venues in Victoria, this was an absolute disgrace and blows my mind this is the same company.
Not my worst dining experience but considering our booking alone contributed over $1000 on a quiet night, it would have been spent better elsewhere.
Management, train your DMs or remind them their job is to run a service not be the cool guy all the staff want to have a yarn with at the glassy station.
No apology from the manager not even an acknowledgement, looked at our table and walked past. Had the courtesy been made to come and discuss with us, this review would not have happened. But clearly no care factor.
Go to this place for convenience and decent food but keep expectations low with service. QR code for food, better off lining up for drinks at the bar as delivery...
