Jacobs Well Hotel — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I would like to say its rare for me to give a bad review because I understand from the days I was a chef how stressful food service is but I had to say something this time...

So we sat at the table thinking how nice it is to always stop at a small local pub the hospitality is always so personal... Well we definitely didn't get that personal service here!

Actually we literally got no service apart from getting the menu... we were never offered water at the table and although the pub wasn't busy yet we sat for ages waiting to order our lunch... In the end I walked up to the counter to place our order and due to service decided to order fish and chips takeaway which was a surprising amount of $25 each and $10 or $12 for kids...

Firstly we were charged $3 for having the fish and chips takeaway, then when we went to pick up the order from the counter I asked for cutlery to eat with and I was told they don't have any at all...

What the? You offer takeaway and charge for bamboo box that has the takeaway in it but don't have cutlery to eat the takeawaywith???? MAYBE I'M ASKING FOR TO MUCH BY ASKING FOR CUTLERY!!!

The fish and chips was ok the chips, salad dressing and tatare sauce were the best things about the meal... The salad was in a round takeaway container with mostly lettuce and dressing there was a small cherry tomato cut in half, a couple of slices of cucumber and a few thin slices of red onions...

We were very disappointed by the whole experience and sorry to say won't be...

Went for dinner tonight. Ordered an eye fillet, medium with pepper sauce, steak arrived. Could not cut through the meat due to the gristle, steak was also not cooked to the medium as requested. We returned the meal to the kitchen and asked for a refund as all appetite had gone. Manager advised that "they do not refund and would give a credit, for a further meal ." Advised that we would not take the refund as we would not return despite being locals. We eat out regularly ( at least twice a week) and eye fillet is always one of the meals. Never in 15 years have we been served steak of such poor quality.

Would not recommend as response to poor food In my book was unacceptable.

Hi not sure how you can say that 90% of the meal was consumed as only the half bug and the single prawn were eaten. I would imagine that you did not see the steak in question so not really in a position to comment on that. It would be beneficial to speak with your butcher and chef possibly to prevent...

5 stars for the whole place, first impressions of the tavern are awsome, the place is clean and very well presented, the staff are very friendly and very accommodating, food was awsome and reasonably priced and a there was a gentleman on this particular night that I do give my praise to, nothing at all seemed to be a drama, he was very very accommodating and made sure my partner, my fur baby and myself were comfortable, as we were outside as we had a puppy with us, offered blankets and even a gas heater, to Ryan the manager on the night of the 09/08/25 I very muchly appreciate your hospitality and to the staff as well, the vibe in the whole place is outstanding and will definitely be coming here again when I visit or even when I'm just passing by and will definitely be recommending this place to anybody asking for a place to go to along the coastline, great work to the team at the Jacobs Well...
