The Wattle Hotel — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Disgusting staff and manager Peter I have tried following up an incident 3 times now that has happened and never got a call back was told the manager will be on tomorrow to call and get told the same thing ? I thought venues like this had to have a duty manager or manager on at all times ? The night of the incident I came in I was on 1 pokie machine while I got up to get another drink I saw a man playing at least 5 pokie machines I went to sit back down with my cousin and this gentleman told me I touched his machine and proceeded to yell at me I have asked him how many machines he was on and which one was actually his before I could get another sentence out of my mouth one of the staff behind the bar (small older lady with glasses) has come around the pokie machine and told me I have to give this gentleman $100 for touching his 1 of 5 pokie machines ? I have handed him $100 as now the security gaurd was standing over me as well and at this point I was a little bit intimidating having 3 people stand over me for money I have then said to the lady this isn't okay and I'm not coming back her she then said good because your banned I have then gone down for an interview 4 days later with Peter and he had no knowledge of this happening but don't staff write incident reports ? I then said I've never seen or heard of anyone getting banned for something like this as it's sort of bad RSG on the wattles behalf for letting someone play that many pokie machines in a Queensland venue. Peter said he would contact me back after 2-3 weeks of getting dismissed by other staff members and telling me Peter isn't working today I finally got a hold of him for him to tell me that it was my fault? And I'm banned ? If I did something wrong I would wear it but not for an incident like this when I have spoken to staff and different venues and that don't think that is...

I visited this restaurant on the 1st of march at 1pm and ordered the steak with chips and salad and I have to say it was a bit of a mixed experience. I ordered it medium rare, hoping for that perfect juicy texture, but it came out more on the medium side. While the flavor was decent and the seasoning was good, I was really hoping for that melt-in-your-mouth quality that comes with a properly cooked medium rare steak.

Unfortunately, the sides really brought the meal down. The chips were overcooked, which made them hard and crunchy rather than crispy and golden. They also had a distinct taste of old oil, which was quite off-putting. It’s always disappointing when the sides don’t complement the main dish.

As for the salad, it was extremely basic, just a few leaves, minimal cucumber, cherry tomatoes and a few slices of radish with no dressing at all. It felt like an afterthought rather than a refreshing accompaniment to the meal. A little vinaigrette or even some simple olive oil would have made a world of difference.

On a positive note, I have to mention that the service from the waiter and bar staff was exceptional! They were attentive, friendly, and really made an effort to ensure we had a good experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also nice, creating a pleasant setting for dining.

Overall, while the steak had potential with its flavor, the cooking temperature and the lackluster sides really dampened the experience for me. But with the great service and nice atmosphere, I think they could definitely improve and elevate their dishes to match the quality of the...

We've been going to the wattle for a few years now and think its great. Our last visit was on Saturday night and it was our best visit yet...so much so that I'm here writing a review because i had a flash back of my meal and my tummy is rumbling just thinking about it.

So for starters, the young woman who seated us was the warmest and friendliest server we've had to date. She also asked us before seating us near a big table of diners if we were ok with being near them. We were cool with that, but it was nice to be asked. She made sure we were aware of the process for ordering etc and then happily went back to her task.

The food was hot, cooked perfectly and fast! My partner got the rib eye cooked perfectly medium rare, it was hot and juicy, the pepper sauce was tasty and hot, the salad was fresh and dressed beautifully and the chips were hot, fresh and perfectly seasoned.

I got the Chicken schnitzel with prawns and creamy garlic sauce (along with the impressive chips and salad too) and wow. The chicken was juicy on the inside and with a nice crisp on the outside, the 4 large juicy prawns tasted FRESH (this is a big deal) and were cooked perfectly and the creamy garlic sauce was absolute perfection....I'd drink it by the cup if it were on offer (haha...I'm not usually a glutton or a big person so that's saying something).
