It felt like we were being hosted by a friend who just happened to work at one of the best restaurants in town.

My experience at Schnitz Ballarat was only that deserving three stars. Firstly, my drink was barely chilled, not cold, and I was not given a glass to drink it from. Yeah, it's hardly earth shattering but it's a lack of providing the best service. How hard is it to serve it in a glass with some ice? How hard is it to ensure your drinks are sufficiently chilled before serving?

My schnitzel was burnt. It begs the question how, whoever, prepared my meal, thought it was OK to serve me a burnt schnitzel. Did they really think that was acceptable? Firstly, my schnitzel was cooked badly, then it was deemed fit to serve to a paying customer. It would have been better if they just prepared me another one and apologised for the delay. I could have returned it and asked for another one or complained to the manager, but I was with a group and I didn't want to come across to them as a complainer. If I were alone though I would definitely have returned it.

To the manager of Schnitz Ballarat I suggest you have words with your staff about acceptable service standards. You are taking money from the customer. As such, serve them to the highest standard. Treat them with respect. Pay attention to detail. Do not accept good enough as acceptable (not that my meal was good enough anyhow). Service like I received damages your reputation, which in turn damages your business.

Popped into Schnitz with the family, and wow, what a ripper experience! From the moment we walked in, Preet made us feel right at home. He was super friendly, had a big smile, and took the time to walk us through the menu like an absolute legend. We were a bit unsure what to pick, but Preet’s enthusiasm helped us land on the Spice of Life burger bloody delicious, by the way! 🌶️ The kids got the Teeny Weeny Pack, which was perfect for our two little terrors.

We mentioned we needed halal options, and Preet was on it like a seagull on a chip. He made sure the kitchen crew knew exactly what was up, and you could tell the whole team was in sync. The staff were super friendly, quick on their feet, and they had this awesome vibe that made the place feel so welcoming.
