My wife and I had brunch at Golden City hotel and I was impressed, I had a Golden City breakfast, I was hungry and expected and would have eaten anything that turned up, but after eating it, wow, poached eggs perfect, bacon just the right amount of crispness, sausages quality plus, and the triangle hash browns, crisp and crunchy until the end of the meal. My wife had a ceaser chicken wrap and opened it up, the chicken was tender an moist, she said she could taste every ingredient in the wrap, fresh.. and it was served together, it may sound like an add, but to get such a basic meal, and cooked and prepared like this wow. It's the type of meal you would give your apprentice chefs to do while the head chef worked on more exotic meals, if that is the case they are teaching them well, very impressed. Restaurant style meals at every day prices. Well done guys, I'll be back in numbers. Service from the staff Aldo. first class, again well done guys and girls.disclaimer, I'm am not affiliated or do I know anyone working or owners at this venue. I went to Ballarat to get a covid vaccine. We sat at table 102. Read moreWow this place has definitely changed since I was last here and not for the good! We had two young children with us and there was no offer of a high chair, children’s menu or colouring, we had to go inside and ask ourselves. Then we were told to order through a QR code which was useless anyway as you couldn’t make changes to any menu options… What’s happened to customer service these days?! Then when I had gone inside to ask for a high chair I seen a coffee just sitting on the bench which was delivered to us 5 minutes later along with our other drink so it’s like it had been left to sit just so they could be brought out together yet the coffee had then gone half cold by then. Then the food arrived, well the kids Vegemite Toastie literally was some dry toast no butter smothered in a thick layer of Vegemite! The pancakes was what shocked us, it was one single pancake on a plate with a serve of melted soft serve and we added strawberries for an extra $4.50 which were not fresh. We were so appalled considering that the total cost for breakfast was almost $100.. upon bringing it up with them the only offer was some more ice cream to which we said no we won’t a refund for the pancakes to which we were told no they can’t?! It’s safe to say we will not...
Read moreI took my mother here today for her birthday lunch. Sorry guys but was really disappointing. We had prawn linguine, prawns didn’t taste fresh and the dish was just drowned in a tomato sauce that really didn’t taste good at all. For $32 bucks you would think it would have some class to it. Was like a kids pasta dish with a tomato sauce chucked on with a few miserable looking prawns. Sorry but I’d say the worst I’ve had in fifty years.
The bruschetta bread was just a cheese on top, no tomato or basil or onion. I think there was some kind of sauce on it to try and replace the traditional bruschetta. To be honest it was really disappointing as well. It would taste better guys if you just went back to basics and made it fresh and yummy with just the ingredients that are meant yo be there.
It’s a lovely place with great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful. I think maybe the owner needs to taste some of these dishes. Then ask themselves if they would be happy with the quality for the high prices they...
