Big Fish Tavern — Restaurant in Greater Brisbane

I have been going to the big fish tavern for over 15 years, I even had our wedding reception there n have celebrated all our family n friends special occasions n I went there 3 weeks ago by myself to have a beer on tap which I love, n had a good arvo n went home by 5pm, n then went there last Thursday on the 4th August, n when I walked in the head bar person Cathy told me I have been banded from the hotel as she had a complaint about me n I said wat for n she said it was something that was said n I asked her wat have I done wrong n she said I can’t disclose the information. N I had to leave n I am wondering if it is annoying for men there that I am there as they make out it is a family place, but it is really for working men, as they have Topless girls there on Friday arvo,s n somethings Saturday,s n it is a public bar for f sake, n I didn’t even get a warning 1st, so I don’t understand y they have done this too me. So everyone b very careful wat u say in a men,s public bar. I think this is discrimination cos I am a woman is in my 50,s going to the pub for a quiet beer n out to the beer garden we’re all the male workers sit. I am very upset n will be taking this further. I have been a regular lunchtime customer for many years upto 3 years ago when I was overseas, have held 2 Xmas lunchtime functions for my staff a few years ago and was never disappointed with the food ,service since returning from overseas have been 3 times for lunch during the week and had my usual steak and was not disappointed like nothing had changed Last Sunday took 3 people for lunch and the fish special and was bitterly disappointed service was great as usual no complaints there however the battery on all the fish meals was dark drown almost burnt I would guess the oil they were cooked in needed a change I only ate half my fish ,the bowl of salad which I have always enjoyed was terrible couple bits of tomato and something that resemble cucumber and a heap of different lettuce leafs which resemble a bowl of grass, hello go back to your salad and dressing of old I have to say in what at guess would be at least 75 + meals there over the years this is the first time I have been...

Grew up in the area but never really came here before last night.

The food was amazing, most of our group had to get takeaway containers because we couldn't finish it all. Entree wedges were equivalent to what I'd expect of a main, heaps of different parmigiana style toppings for chicken schnitzel but even the schnitzel itself was beautifully cooked. I had an entree and main that came to $30, but the food was definitely worth it. Jug of coke set us back $10 but it served three of us twice over (maybe more).

Service was very naturally friendly, didn't feel like it was forced or "customer service" friendly. Kitchen messed up my order but they remade it and let us keep the messed up one as well, which made everyone at the table happy (who doesn't love an extra plate of cheesy garlic bread?)
