I purchased $46 worth of coffee and coffee supplies from Neli on Wednesday. A bag of the coffee was rancid. This was my experience.
I was excited to find this little shop. We've always purchased Neli coffee but never direct. I took some pictures of the surrounds to post to social media to show my friends and encourage locals to come.
After I selected my coffee I went and paid. Despite my request to put the receipt in the bag, no receipt was provided. The receipt was emailed to me the following day soon after I called the store and requested it. That night my partner and I excitedly smelt the new beans. One smelt delicious as per normal, this is possibly the 15th bag of Neli coffee beans we've purchased, then we smelt the second. The second bag was clearly rancid. We both agreed it had a strong unpleasant smell, similar to compost. I was worried we might get ill from it. So I had to make the time to drive back and exchange it.
When I got there, the same lady who had served me last time was there again. I explained to her politely that the coffee unfortunately smelt rancid, and I was concerned it was not fit for human consumption, and assured her the other coffee was fine though, and tried to show the difference between the two products. She refused to look at the coffee, let alone smell it to see if my claims were true. Instead she said, "I am personally offended. You came in here and took forever to decide, and took photos of everything. There is nothing wrong with our coffee. You chose this flavour. That's what it is supposed to smell like." So I protested, "But it smells like compost - it's clearly gone rancid. Are you sure it's suppose to smell like that? Could you just smell it please?" To which she refused and just continued stating how 'personally offended' she was. I literally stood there with my mouth agape. There is a quality requirement when a vendor is selling food - I believe that if someone insists a consumable product may cause illness there is a duty of care that the food should at least be sighted and / or smelt.
I could not believe she would not even see if my claims were indeed true. She flat out refused to even look at the coffee and smell it to see if it were indeed off. But I think it was particularly aggressive to have my actions attacked. Yes, I took maybe 10 minutes in the store, but there were quite a few things I needed to buy. I also was not aware that taking photos of the store, to post on social media to encourage patronage nonetheless, would be shunned.
I have always been reluctant to post poor reviews and have never ever, no matter how poor the service, posted a poor review until today. I am so hesitant to write negatively about a small family owned business - it goes against my morals. However, the experience I encountered today… I left the store shaking. For the record, she did exchange the beans. These...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dealing with Neli Coffee for a recent repair on my coffee machine, and I couldn't be more impressed with the entire experience. From start to finish, their service was beyond brilliant. In fact, I was more than willing to come down from the Sunshine Coast just for their service quality.
First and foremost, the professionalism was outstanding. The team not only repaired my machine but made it run like brand new again. They really took their time and paid close attention to the details, which made me feel confident in the quality of their work.
What really stood out was their transparency. They gave me the old parts from my machine, so I could see exactly what had been replaced, and I also received a comprehensive service breakdown on the invoice. It was clear they take pride in their work and believe in being fully upfront with their customers.
As for the cost—what a difference! I paid half of what I was charged by my previous repairer, and I feel like I got way more value for my money.
To top it off, Neli Coffee doesn't just do excellent repairs—they offer fantastic coffee and coffee beans as well. If you're in need of a repair, or simply love great coffee, Neli Coffee is the place to go.
Outstanding sales and service, all-around great experience. I highly...
Read moreWhat do I love about Neli Coffee? The first time I came here, the building had a factory shop look from the outside. Once inside, it has a cool industrial chic vibe. Love the mural on the wall. Love the glass doors that allow one to see the coffee roasters. The shop fitout is neat, very clean. This place took Covid safety very seriously. Good sanitising practises. The service is genuinely consistent friendly service. The product of coffee, coffee equipment, and supplies is abundant, but not overwhelming. The place feels professional, yet maintains the personal touch. The coffee is great. The treats are tempting and look delicious. Occasionally I will eat a cake or slice. Today I had a "freckle" ($1) Without doubt, it is my favourite place to buy coffee for home, and stay awhile and sip a coffee ...why not. The service is seriously good. I mean, this is why we come here. There is a friendliness built into the professional way they treat all customers. There is a constant flow of people in and out of Neli...obviously, I am not the only one who enjoys coming here. It was...
