Surprised in a bad way. Loyal customers since they were in Woody Point. Food is normally nice, but curry More gravy than meat - last meal the Papadums were inedible leathery and greasy. I called and mentioned so I could come back and get others. The woman on phone said, if I preferred we could get complimentary NEXT TIME. I asked if she wanted my name and drop my phone number down she said "don't worry about it, I will make a note it's just Papadums".
NEXT TIME was last night. I mentioned the Papadums as part of the order. "No that's not possible til she waits to speak to someone else". On pick up the owner comes out to me - and said he never received a phone complaint . I reassured him I called immediately we arrived home and saw the mess of oil leathery Papadums. "No" he said. Long and short he kept insisting I hadn't rung, and mentioned something like "him working so hard being expected to give away free food" I was so shocked - an did point out they his distress was over $2.50 Papadums! Would he prefer I leave them? Perhaps he would prefer that I just don't come back anymore and take my custom elsewhere If it's such a big deal. He was silent.
Was such ungracious display worth it - we were loyal customers literally over a decade, not only has he come out of the kitchen especially to basically say I am lying, but crying woe poor me over $2.50 papadum.
Last night - it so happened I worked at a friend's restaurant to help out as they were swamped - the very OPPOSITE attitude shown by them to customers. I suggested to maple Indian owner, that if I was in his position over something so trivial - I would have apologised "I am sorry your meal had a problem, I did not get any feedback about the inedible Papadums - sorry about the inconvenience, these are on the house" end of story. $2.50 fix. It wasn't an expensive main meal that he was replacing.
Just so very surprised at the lack of graciousness, By proxy calling me a liar- insisting I did not call. (Just because his staff didn't give him the message) If I hadn't gone there for years and years, I probably wouldn't bother mentioning it

Read moreWe have eaten at Maple Indian Gourmet multiple times during our 18 month stay near Kippa-Ring and have consistently enjoyed authentic freshly prepared Indian food. Because I am vegan (my husband is not) and Indian restaurants generally have lots of choices for me we eat at Indian restaurants often so we know good Indian food. We would rate Maple Indian Gourmet among the top tier and it became our go-to in the area though there were many choices. Their vegetable samosas are the best we have ever had — a wonderful blend of spices with a touch of heat. Absolutely delicious. Between my husband and I we have tried many main dishes and there was not a dish that disappointed us. We particularly enjoyed their masala dishes (both vegan and non-vegan). Their masala sauce is rich, creamy and bursting with flavor. The staff is lovely and the kitchen is very accommodating — always willing to make changes to the preparation to suit our tastes and dietary preferences (e.g., convert a vegetarian dish to vegan, hold the potatoes, etc.). We are now leaving the area and will be sad to say goodbye to Maple Indian Gourmet. They set a high bar! We highly recommend Maple Indian Gourmet for a fabulous authentic...
Read moreWent to this place on 13/09/24 , it was about 2pm, there wasn’t any other customers, I ordered lunch “paid”for it (luckily I paid by card not cash) had food (no complaints about their food though) , said “thank you for the meal” and walked out, in 20-30seconds Manager/Owner (the guy with Vitiligo )ran after me , by the time I entered into the shopping mall, there were other people were around, he yelled “you didn’t pay for your food” it was super embarrassing, I didn’t want to argue in public so I went with him into the restaurant, I went to the counter and on the EFTPOS machine there was a receipt, I showed his that and asked him to check it , he said “are you sure”? Finally I had to log into my NAB account to show him I paid money. Then he said “oh sorry, the girl who served you food told me that you didn’t pay for food. I was super disappointed the way got treated , there was no hospitality it was just criminalising customers. It was a torture for 10-15 minutes. Will never go to this...
