Today's café experience was a bit of a mixed bag. We were looking forward to a relaxing breakfast. We ordered 2 eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and 2 chai lattes in a mug. Unfortunately, the experience didn't start on the right foot.
The first disappointment came with the chai lattes. Took 15-20 minutes to arrive. They were extremely watery, lacking the rich and flavorful chai taste we were hoping for.
After what felt like an eternity, our food finally arrived 40 minutes later, but unfortunately, it was served cold. Cold eggs Benedict are far from enjoyable, and it was clear that the kitchen had let us down on this front.
To add to the list of letdowns, we had to chase up the staff for cutlery. It's basic cafe etiquette to have cutlery readily available for patrons, and it was disheartening to have to remind them of such a simple necessity. Cutlery was brought to us in a kitchen basket & left on the table for us to sort through.
In an attempt to salvage the experience, we decided to ask for the chai lattes to be remade. However, even with the request, the second round of chai lattes came out straight away and tasted exactly the same as the first. There was no improvement in their quality, which was quite disappointing, especially considering that the cafe didn't seem to be overly busy with several vacant tables.
On a more positive note, we appreciated the ambiance of the café. The overall view was indeed lovely, and had the food and drinks lived up to expectations, it could have been a much better experience.
In conclusion, our café experience today was marred by several unfortunate issues. The slow service, watery chai lattes, cold food, and lack of attentiveness from the staff left us feeling disappointed. Despite the charming ambiance, we left with a sense of dissatisfaction. We hope that the café management takes these criticisms constructively to improve their offerings and provide a better experience for...
Read moreOne mid-morning both grey and dreary, we set forth, my wife and I both hungry and weary, To The Pelican Cafe, seeking refuge from the o’ernight storm’s encore. Umbrellas held in hands so tight, we braved the rain's unholy might, And scurried 'cross the parking lot, to the restaurant's welcoming door.
Up the stairs, their treads slick with rain, we climbed excitedly, our spirits to regain, And through the sliding glass we were whisked, barely escaping the tempest's roar. A woman greeted us, most kind, with warmth amidst the raindrops pelting the window pane, And led us to a table, where we settled to explore.
The staff, in morning’s fervent flurry, moved with purpose, none did worry, Baking, cracking eggs, whisking batters, and brewing drinks galore. The decor, a nautical delight, with old sailors in morning light, Their voices low, a murmur, of weather, grandkids, and more.
I chose the brekky roll, though simple, it did console, With egg and bacon, cheese, and red peppar jam, a blend I did adore. Yet, woe, no side to grace the plate, a detail small, but worth debate, The mocha, single-shot, did warm, the chill I did abhor.
The setting, quaint and filled with lore, spoke of seas and tales of yore, A place where memories linger, and mornings start once more. Though the meal was but a humble fare, the ambiance was beyond compare, At The Pelican Cafe, amidst the...
Read moreVenue is nice and tucked away however we ordered and left an hour and a half later as we still didn't get our food (our 2 year old was asking for food for the last bit of our wait). I had to ask for an ETA and was told 5 mins to then further wait 10. Other patrons also complained about the long wait (our coffees took 45 mins to come out too). When asking for our money back, the young barista told us that if she turned us away, due to the delay, we'd be angry either way - meaning, she chose to not let us know about the delay until the experience was completely ruined. Had we knew, we wouldn't be angry - we simply would've gone to another Cafe.
I manage customer centricity in my day job so know a thing or two about process and my recommendation is if the Cafe struggles to service all of the tables in the venue, then either resource accordingly for it or limit how many tables are in the venue so staff aren't run off their feet. Lastly, if there is going to be a wait then let the patrons know. It's this hush-hush style of "customer service" that creates constructive reviews like this. Be an open book to your patrons and they'll...
