Unfortunate experience today. Been coming for years with my father but today was unpleasant
Father ordered 2 of the seniors fish and chips, using his seniors card was asked if we wanted the barramundi grilled or battered. We chose and the cashier said the total would be $46 and my father paid, I pointed it out that we were over charged so we went back to the cashier. This wasn’t a major issue and we were brought over to a different section to be fixed up by the manager. From the get go we were told we ordered wrong and that the normal fish and chips wasn’t discounted. We then stated that we didn’t order that but the seniors hence why he produced his card and the card number was taken down. The manager struggled with reimbursing so I said we were about to buy 2 beers we could just pay the difference but she told us no and to go sit outside once again rudely ( my father said I didn’t order a side salad of arrogance.Dad went and got 2 beers and we sat down outside. Eventually the manager came out with the cash difference and stated that quite rudely that next time remember that barramundi is not on the seniors menu and walked off. I grabbed a menu again and my dad took it up to show the manager it on the menu. She proceeded to then kick him out of the venue and told him we weren’t welcome inside again. She then proceeded to stand up on the deck watching over us until our food arrived my Dad asked the waiter to confirm that it was actually barramundi that we ordered and he said yes. The manager then decided to yell out in front of everyone you can both get off the premises when we had finished our food. We left as we finished.
If after pointing out an error politely, then getting told we ordered wrong treated like he was senile and talked to like he was a child, I think his arrogance comment was quite appropriate. I don’t believe to then be once again told misinformation which he went to clear up that our behaviour was warranted to be kicked out. Food was brilliant, other staff were completely fine but the whole experience was ruined as the manager got it wrong and instead of copping it on the chin and then even given a simple solution. Chose to make it an issue. I understand that harassment and verbally assaulting workers is an obvious reason to be kicked, but definitely not what had been done
Will definitely be back again as usual as have always came for a beer, fish and chips and a yarn
Unless we’ve now made it on...
Read moreHonestly this place needs a sign stating their POLICIES. I’m sick and tired of everytime I come here something changes. I love the food but the issue is the policies that DO NOT MAKE SENSE and the lack of care from managers and staff. A few months ago I came with a friend and ordered fish and chips, funny thing was a few bites in the fish was off and could smell it rotten from far away. - we both got food poisoning the next day and when we bought it to the owner’s attention while we were here he offered a free meal next time we came and would call us the next day. He never did. This will make sense as to why I’m stating this - 3 weeks ago I came with my family 16 of us, I am over the age of 18 and I did not get ID once. When the waiters bought drinks to the table I said “yes it’s mine” and they gave it no questions asked. I only said yes because my brothers or sister was not at the table to claim it. I ordered a cocktail jug and multiple spirits and did not get asked for ID and I was able to walk freely in the pokies and drink with my 23yr old brother no questions again. Tonight I am here the 12th of August. I came with my partner who is 17 not that long ago and was able to order alcohol no problem as long as I didn’t give it to him (and of course I wouldn’t because he is designated driver and DESPISES ALCOHOL) when we asked why am I not allowed to drink both staffs reasoning was “under suspicion you’ll give it to him. So you have to eat and leave immediately you cannot stay once you finish your meals” I’m highly annoyed as it’s a Saturday, my one day off and I never really drink as is. Simply wanted to enjoy myself and I am highly confused as last time I came I could order drinks no problem.
From how I see it it’s discrimination purely because I am 18 and my partner is 17. One of the staff said “I’m not seen as an adult” fix your policies and make it clear. I don’t see why a family with teenagers can order drinks but a person who is considered an adult in modern society can’t purely because it’s me and my underage partner. Either get a sign stating this as a policy or it’s completely ridiculous in my opinion.
Also another thing security approached us at dinner and asked for my ID and said if I’m not drinking it’s fine...
Read moreI visited Redland Bay Hotel on Australia Day 2022. From the moment I arrived, I was in awe of the view from the deck of the Hotel. The food was awesome. I had the steak, perfectly cooked to my liking.
The staff were more than accommodating as it was crazy busy, so I definitely recommend to book so you won’t miss out on a table.
Great selection of beers and wines, and I would definitely recommend this venue for a meal, or a nice coldie overlooking the bay. I’ll definitely be back soon!! Well done guys👍
Feb 2022 - I revisited this venue after my first experience.
Everything was awesome again! Great food, service was second to none, and I just loved sitting in the open air bistro, overlooking Redland Bay, whilst downing a couple of icy coldies. Well done to all the team! I’ll be back again in June 2022, and this is now my number 1 Hotel for ticking all the right boxes!!
May 2022
I was back in Queensland for the week, so I had no hesitations in visiting again.
There had been a few modifications to the menu and when I saw Crispy Duck Breast I had to order it.
The Duck breast was cooked as the menu said, with Crispy Skin and it was tender and juicy underneath. It was served with a potato rosti, roasted Dutch carrots and cranberry and red wine jus. What a dish!!! Do yourselves a favour, you have to order this, you won’t be disappointed.
It was a Sunday and despite the inclement weather, the place was jumping and needless to say again, that the service was awesome.
June 2022
Visited Redland Bay Hotel on Friday night 17th June… I felt like a salad tonight, so was recommended by the wait staff to try the halloumi salad. What a treat!! Generous serve of grilled halloumi with cherry tomatoes, olives, mixed salad, artichokes, mixed salad w dressing. I was a little worried I might still have been a little small, but trust me, I battled to finish it!!!
They had a promo on last man standing beer, so indulged in 2 of them dying dinner… As usual the place was vibrant and it was all happening. Another 5 star...
