Petrie Hotel — Restaurant in Greater Brisbane

Lost a star because of the owners reply to my daughter's review. Wrong decision by my group to dine here for my youngest daughters birthday dinner. Arrived for our booking just before 7, as our sign in sheet shows. Ordered at 7:10pm, as our receipt shows. Asked a member of our party what the time was at one stage and was told 7:40pm. During the next 20 minutes the tables next to us were finally served and eventually our food came 50 mins after ordering. The amount of diners was nothing out of the ordinary for a Wednesday night. My meal did not come out with the other 3, due, we were informed, to an accident by the chef. (Check your info properly Rochelle) Fine, did wait another 10 minutes for it, and whilst the Chicken Parmi and Chicken burger were enjoyed by my young daughter and beau, the steak (2 pieces cooked rare and medium rare, medium rare ordered) and salad (dripping in highly vinegared dressing) and my parmesan coated "barramundi" (2 pieces, one obviously NOT barramundi, probably flake, grey not white) the coating of which was not cooked evenly and burnt bitter in places, and totally unenjoyable on the palate. I love fish and order barramundi mostly when out and have never had a bad piece; this was the WORST barra at a restaurant or chippie takeaway I have ever had. Your tomato italian sauce accompanying the fish was so very obviously Leggos pizza sauce, as I use it regularly for my pastas. Chips were very very average. We tossed up between here, because it's close to my youngest daughter, and another always faultless club; and won't be doing that again. I also stared at the table in front of me, vacated at 7:10pm, which had carrot, spillage and a napkin left on it, till someone finally cleaned it at around 8:30pm with a quick wipe and no spray. Same person who abruptly and rudely took our photocopied menus and Sign In/Out sheet off our table without interacting or asking if we had finished with them. Staff were okay, but when our plates were cleared, the male staff member didn't even ask if we were finished! Or if we had enjoyed our meals, luckily; very luckily....... Training Rochelle,...

We (my partner and myself) choose to dine at petrie tavern tonight for what we thought would be a nice night out as we hadn't had one in a while and the steak deal sounded like a good plan. we booked a table for 6:30 and arrived on time but decided to have a couple drinks first and play pokies we were advised that the wait time on food that night was half an hour. We ordered our food at 7:06 as well as more drinks We were served our entree about 20min in a really simple bread dip with 3 dips that isn't nearly worth the $10 it cost and waited some more when it got to 8 o'clock we asked for our refund and left we were only refunded for the steaks and toppers and the manager while she apologised seemed really nonchalant and unapologetic about the whole ordeal Having both worked in hospitality all our lives we know that there were many things that could have been done to avoid this. No server approached us at any point to offer apologies for the wait time or even to acknowledge that we were still waiting so while everyone around us was eating what looked like beautiful food we sat and waited counting the minutes.

It was explained to us when we left that there was only two chefs on tonight and that they "could have called one in but there wasn't enough time"

We just wanted a nice night out with no worries but now we're leaving hungry disappointed and a little shocked

Perhaps the staff and management need more training in ways to assist customers during lengthy wait times a simple acknowledgement or round of drinks would have gone a long way to...

Would have rated zero but it isn't an option. Never had an interest in dining in but was local for my sister's birthday dinner. The wait time was over 50 mins, but the staff were nice. Her burger was good, but my steak was two different kinds of cooked and the salad was dripping in salad dressing. Was just plain and I wasn't thrilled by the steak. The chef had an incident which meant that my diabetic mother had to wait an extra 10 mins for her fish. Which would have been fine because they apologised, but gave her an extra piece of fish, that wasn't barramundi. The parmesan cheese coating was burnt and very bitter. Probably won't come back here to dine.

EDITED because I can't reply to your comment. We were a table of 4 on Wednesday 23rd. There was an incident where crockery or glasses were dropped prior to our meals coming out, that may have been the incident with the chef, not sure.

I'd just like to say why would I want to call you up to discuss the issue when you've just called me a liar online? We were watching the time closely, we signed in at 7pm on the dot and 3 of us didn't get our food till at least 45 mins past, with the exception of my mother with the fish incident which was another 8-10 mins later.

Luckily this is NOT my local otherwise I would tell everyone to swerve past ever coming here. The way you just talked to me was appalling saying I'm lying about my experience. You need to take constructive criticism a bit better to survive in the hospitality industry. I have also read a few similar reviews where the service and food...
