I had my baby shower at Bloom room Cafe over the weekend which I was extremely excited for, being our first baby & having struggles to conceive this day was especially important for me! Upon initially booking my event with bloom & paying my deposit I barely had any correspondence with the coordinator of the event at all. If anything I had to contact them either time to organise the details. No mention to me about my preferences or how I wanted to event laid out either. I thought it was possibly due to the stressors of the virus circulating & many businesses going through a tough time (also another reason I chose a local business to support). The morning of my shower I stopped into bloom wanting to drop some bits & pieces off to decorate tables etc for the set up of the shower only to be greeted by (the owner sam, I assume... again she never actually introduced herself to Me at all so I actually wouldn’t have a clue who was who but by putting two & two together I assumed she was the owner ‘coordinator’ or the business. She didn’t welcome me at all when i mentioned having my shower there at bloom later that afternoon... I then asked if I could keep my cake there & other bits for the afternoon to make it easier, she said okay & took the cake. I ended up leaving bloom that morning with a bit of a weird vibe about the lack of professionalism & not so friendly/warm greeting I received. Myself & my guests arrived to the shower just before 2pm, she had already told my Guests they weren’t to enter the premises .... then came out & said okay we could go in. I never was asked if I was happy with set up etc... (which I was, but still would have been nice to have been asked since I was a paying customer holding my event there). Anyway, time flew & I barely even saw any of the staff at all & no one coordinated the day at all, to help move things along smoothly, there was Never any mentioned about having a strict must leave premises including get all my baby shower gifts, guests, decorations etc ALL OUT..right on 4pm!!!! So that they could begin ‘set up’ for there ‘dinner menu’ which as far as I’m aware they don’t even hold dinners there... anyway each staff member including the owner was extremely abrupt & rude to not only myself but also to a few of my guests. This was An extremely disappointing end to my shower Not to mention embarrassing that my friends & family felt ‘shoved’ out.. i had been having such a lovely time, but to be rushed out by the owner & staff Members with unprofessional abrupt comments was just disgusting. It was just really unprofessional & down right rude to be honest. I understand the time frame we had & the fact that closing time was 4pm.. but perhaps don’t book an event in right on when you want people out as I paid for TWO whole hours not 1 hour & 40 mins to then be rushed for photos, packing everything up, saying goodbye to my guests then to be told we had To ‘get out now & into the parking lot’. I had not even cut my cake by this point, which i was then handed a knife no napkins, to quickly Cut my cake. They rushed me out that Quickly I didn’t even have time To wash my sticky hands from cutting the cake!!! We had to End up rushing everything out onto the pavement so bloom staff ‘could commence there cleaning/set up for their ‘dinner menu’ .. I was later told (in the car park) by a family member that A staff member rudely said isn’t someone going to fix up the bill’..no thank you nothing & definitely no tact or professionalism in the way you & your staff members conducted yourselves at all in my opinion. It is actually quite shameful. One of my guests even went to Order a juice For her daughter To be told ‘we close in 15 mins’. Perhaps in future you might want to actually coordinate the event to ensure that time Frames are met if time Frames are ‘precious’. Given it’s a business that seems to hold quite a few baby showers etc You would think by now you would understand how such events should be coordinated & some tact in the way you speak also would be appreciated. Really...
Read moreThe Bloom Room,
This particular Cafe has been circulating in my friend group a lot and on social media so here we go...
Atmosphere: When we arrived, we were a little surprised to realise it was built into the Birkdale Fair but actually how they designed and laid it out was super nice. We were impressed by the Flowery Aesthetics of it all. I would definitely recommend to sit in their outdoor area instead of the inside; I think on a beautiful day it just feels nice (on this particular visit we were ushered inside instead). The Bloom Room is Cute, Light, and a Soft atmosphere.
Service: The service itself was quite standard, you can notice the majority are younger staff who are still developing the the ability to be more personable with customers. Our host in particular was friendly, welcoming and engaged with us!
Food: When it comes to the preparation and display of the dishes, I was certainly surprised and happy with how they combined it all together; definitely satisfying for the eyes. We had ordered the Hash Brown Benedict and the Baked Sweet Potato stack (as seen in the photos). I generally enjoyed my meal and the blend of ingredients. I feel like flavouring can be enchanced if they worked on tweaking their meals with different seasonings, spices, or even with marinates just to evoke the flavour of each ingredient more.
Overall, the experience was pleasant and we were happy with our trip to this popular Cafe we see all over Instagram, Tiktok, and Facebook and with the constructive criticism, I think we just want to see these Brisbane Cafe's really keep working on improving themselves and being the best they can be. The Cafe Culture in Brisbane is definitely growing and...

The coffee was fantastic, the blend was really nice. The unique menu items were exciting to decide over. The eggs poached with my avacado toast were cooked skillfully.
Things that might require improvement: The teaspoons that come with your coffee do not fit inside the sugar jars provided, a bizarre oversight that requires tipping of the bottle to extract the sugar. This causes lumps of sugar to uncontrollably fly out causing myself and my friend to accidentally spill sugar onto the table or into the coffee despite our best efforts.
The impression of the smashed avocado toast when it was brought out was very much a case of 'oh, where's the rest?'. The portion size was quite small despite the premium price tag. I was confronted by a single piece of (admittedly good quality) bread and associated toppings.
Unfortunately, had I not ordered the optional eggs, the meal would have also been quite dry and bland. The avacado and feta hadn't even been smashed together, as the name of the dish implies, they came separated and unseasoned atop the bread with a small slice of lemon. While I can appreciate that diners will have different tastes, I cannot see anyone wishing their meal to come to the table half finished, despite the presentation being top quality. Perhaps more lemon or a quality herb salt like herbamare would add a unique edge to boost flavor without overpowering the ingredients? At the very least they should come combined so I'm not required to do the mixing...
