Gloria Jean's Gympie — Restaurant in Gympie

I have only eaten there twice, the 1st time with my Mama was very pleasant. friendly staff, great smiles which created a really welcoming atmosphere. No one rushed us and we chatted and laughed, until we were pleasantly asked, "Would you like another coffee or cake?" The next time I was alone, I ordered after being ignored while they chatted, so I asked for a cappuccino. Then I bought 5 bags of whole beans of different flavours...(as I do every month because there isn't GJs in my town anymore and for some unknown reason they won't post them to Rockhampton.) OK, so the second time, I was treated as if I was being overly rude for asking her to make a coffee, she took my order then leant on the bench for 5mins, I was told to stand and wait "over there" with just about as much attitude as she could muster. I was shocked and found myself going over my mental state before I entered, wondering if I'd given off serious F.Y. vibes or something. I started to wonder if it was just me that day... Anyway, I need the beans and the time before it was lovely. It's quite small and the outside areas(inside or out) are only small too but it's never really that busy that you don't get a seat if you want one. The atmosphere inside is enclosed but right next to the roadside carpark on the corner of the intersection, back far enough to not be annoying and the outside seat area is the barrier between the glass wall and the carpark so no biggie. It works perfectly when the smiley friendly staff are there, but still, some people like the snooty coffee-snob demeanour 😆 , I just didn't we expect...

Nice iced coffee clean tidy shop. Disappointed to have a surcharge on the eftpos machine, when I queried it I was told no you only get charged the cost of your drink. $8.00 checked account $8.30 charged. Said maybe you should tell people there's a charge and got told "There's a sign there" when looking yes there is a sign but no mention of the cost and its hidden on counter exactly in the space where people place their bags to get cards out which I witnessed numeroustimes when in the cafe. Guessing its a good earner considering how many customers.Sneaky encourage eftpos transactions and then...

Customer service at the counter was exceptional as usual. As I went to take my seat I had a dizzy spell and almost collapsed. A young lady who was on her break helped me with a glass of water and chatted to me for a bit which helped me gain consciousness and focus. I got my food and an amazing sincere apology for a mix up on orders and for the wait (wasn’t that long of a wait in my personal opinion as they were a little busy). The food tasted amazing!
