We arrived today around 12.45 and asked the waiter for the table for five (3A+2K) , she said it’s busy and have to wait 15-20minutes and she noted our name down. And we were ok with that until I saw there were few tables empty with reserved sign I can assure that those tables were just left with the sign without any actual reservations ( have been in this industry for so long so I know the trick). Again I am fine with that too . But when I saw that there were few people came after us just walked in and were straight away offered the service .So after waiting for almost 15 minutes I went to check again inside and the waiter told me there is one more table in front of me and asked me to order takeaway if I don’t want to wait. And I request her if she could do something as I have kids and they were hungry. And she was not helpful at that point and ask me to keep waiting for another 20 minutes. All in all I almost waited 45 min ( whilst I ordered take away because my son was very hungry) , our turn came in after 45 min and she said to us if we ordered take away we can’t sit inside. I felt bit of negligence towards us and the service is on zero level. Just because they are only one in the area they don’t care I guess Not going...

A rather busy spot as it’s the only cafe at Hyams Beach.

The brioche French toast was tasty though it became soggy quite quickly.. the clotted cream in the top had a slightly sour taste which helped balance the sweetness of the French toast.

The BLAT’s specialty was the maple syrup fried bacon, which gave the sandwich a different twist.

The smashed avo and feta on sourdough was slightly smaller in size for its price.. wasn’t too impressed with the flavour profile but it was true to its description on the menu.

The goose roll was essentially a glorified mcmuffin from maccas with an extra hash brown… very salty but satisfying.

We got 2 fresh juices (which you can mix and match with the choices on the menu) which was delicious. Also got a iced chocolate and substituted the milk for oat milk without additional charges.

Overall, I would come back to try other things on the menu, the vibes of the cafe was good and customer service was decent. Though they did charge us for something we didn’t order but refunded the money once...

We ordered food to eat in and told the lady taking our order this. She said ok, gave us some of our food on a plate and some in a takeaway bag. I'm still not sure why but didn't really care either way. Then another waitress came up to us and told us we couldn't eat in if we got a takeaway meal. I advised that it was sit in food and I wasn't sure why the waitress had put some of it in a paperbag and some of it on a plate (which was clearly visible in front of her). In response she simply repeated herself, so I in turn tried to again explain what I thought was a relatively straight forward concept. Whilst I was still speaking another staff member walked by who angrily repeated her message and spoke over me doing so. I again explained the issue but the two of them chose not to listen. Had either of them bothered to listen more than they spoke they would have learnt that the problem was with their staff, not their customers. It's a pity there aren't many other options in the area. The customer service...

Went to The Cooked Goose on Hyams for lunch. Upon entry staff were very friendly and attentive and service was excellent the entire stay. The restaurant itself seemed tidy however it was a shame that views are blocked by surrounding buildings given the location. Ordered the (basic) hamburger as well as a vegetarian burger for my wife. The basic burger was ok, the word 'safe' comes to mind. There wasn't anything wrong with it however at the same time it was not memorable at all. The meat was ok but once again it was "mehh". The vegetarian burger if you are that way inclined was reported by my wife as "bland and uninteresting". Given they appeared to be the only cafe in Hyams Beach, if they could introduce some special or unique flavours, they could be a real standout. Perhaps some of their other dishes have some good flavours. Try for yourself and see.
