I have ordered food from this place many times, the food is fantastic and generally consistent, so you know what to expect. The reason I’m writing this is to do with time management. Almost every time I call them and place an order it’s generally 20-25 minute wait, 8 out of 10 times however the order is either incorrect, or they only start making the food when I arrive to pick up the takeaway. We generally are ok with this as it’s usually a 20 minute delay on average over the timeframes they advise when you place the order, as we love the food we accept this. However, last night (15th July) I called and ordered a takeaway at 6:03pm, as usual I advised 20-25 minutes. When I arrived to collect they had no idea of my order. The name was written incorrectly, instead of vindaloo they had it as aloo? Anyway we were told ‘sorry we mixed it up, we will prioritise your order’. I said all good will go into the IGA as we needed a few things. Time is now 7pm, still no food, there were another 3 people waiting and their orders were either wrong, or not started. I asked if my order was actually being made and they said yes it will be 5 minutes. The time is now 7:25pm and people who arrived 45 minutes after my order was meant to be ready, were getting their orders and leaving. I asked where is my order. I was told for the THIRD time ‘sorry we made a mistake, it won’t be long’ I asked them what dishes they are making (I ordered vindaloo and Punjabi curries) and they were making different dishes to what I ordered, They must have given my order to someone else by mistake, they said they will go and make my order. I said forget it. It’s been almost 1.5 hours since I placed the order and still no sign of it and now you want another 20 minutes to go and make it? I walked off extremely frustrated.
The food is great, I cannot fault it, but they seem to employ young kids and they can struggle with workload it would appear. I suggest this place either spends time training their young staff. Or employ older people who have more experience, likely comes down to cheap wages and it’s to their detriment if this is the case.
I always recommend this place to anyone who wants a good curry.
I will never go back after this experience, and will advise people the same. We will try another establishment from now on.
The last experience is the straw that broke the camels back, how hard is it to write down 2 curries, rice and samosas?
Well it would seem impossible…
Anyone reading this, here is my advice. Order at the place, not over the phone, accept a 20 minute wait as it will be far quicker and more accurate than trusting the phone order, for some reason they just cannot get it right first time.
Lovely food, unacceptable wait times and very disorganised, they need to invest in staff training to treat this issue of consistently stuffing up...
Read moreFinally decided to try this place after living close by for a year, but even though they have a small vegan menu, none of the options sounded very appealing which is why we didn't go sooner. However, we decided to take a chance getting the onion bhaji (listed as dairy free and vego) which was unlike any onion bhaji I've ever had, not bad just felt like a totally different food. The sauces that came with it though had dairy yoghurt in them, I'm glad I asked otherwise my kid with a dairy allergy would have been in trouble. This needs to be updated on the menu! It is dangerous! Next we got coconut rice, which was overly sweet, dry and felt like rice with desiccated coconut added to it rather than being cooked in coconut milk.
Upon pick up I noticed marketing material that said rice is included with any curry, that was not the case, we were charged for coconut rice and no additional plain rice came with it.
Next we had the gobhi aloo which wasn't great. Nothing to write home about.
We also ordered the vegan garlic roti which was incredibly dry and burnt. Honestly, instead of simply removing the ghee or butter, why not replace it with nuttelex or even olive oil so it has some moisture on it. Or use a vegan coconut yoghurt in the naan recipe.
Unfortunately I cook better indian food at home, and that's saying something. Vegan doesn't need to be bland and India has so many amazing vegan options to choose from in their cuisine! Get creative! I suggest taking a look at some restaurants that are doing it well like the leaf in Perth. Honestly I'd be happy to help with feedback, but simply removing the animal products isn't good enough. Customer service was fine, order was slightly delayed to the time estimate but overall food quality means I won't be returning...
Read moreEdit: I would like to edit my review from 5 stars to 1 as I have been quite unhappy with their services off late. Their food is very inconsistent and they messed my order. They delivered a different curry than what was ordered and forgot one side dish. When I called them, they said they are too busy to deliver the missed order. Services have completely deteriorated. And they are very in flexible too. Due to my diet restrictions, I had once checked if I could have a roti instead of a garlic naan (garlic naan costs more than the roti) from their deal mean, they refused to do so after being a frequent customer. Very disappointing that a good restaurant has now become quite bad.
This place served the most delicious shahi kurma and roti I have ever tasted. The food took a long time to come but it was absolutely worth it. The rotis were soft. The quantities of the curry and rice were quite good. Will definitely go again. I hope the chef doesn't change. At least for...
