Royal Exchange Hotel — Restaurant in Kadina

We attended for a 70th birthday lunch for my dad for 12 people. They did not have the booking even though I know it was done, and then it was a whole lot of effort to store the birthday cake in the fridge. When we went to order there were no beef or pork ribs available even though beef ribs was on the specials. The gluten free options advised on the menu weren't gluten free when checking with the chef, real helpful when your gf daughter checked the menu and preplanned her gf meal then couldn't have it. The pork belly was rubbery and chewy and came with a red wine jus that is not mentioned on the menu, the jus was inedible and ruined the whole dish. The accompanying potatoes were not crispy and the broccoli overcooked. The bowls of chips we ordered were a mix between being undercooked, firm, just right and squishy. No plates were cleared and it appeared to be "an effort" for the staff to do their job. Not one person asked how the meals were or were friendly.

The bar staff also couldn't see an issue when they poured a see through jug of coke, clearly not mixed, did end up replacing it but still disappointing.

The fact that I have to give you atleast 1 star to leave a review baffles me. We came in today with a table booked for 20. Disappointed is an understatement! The male waiting staff was beyond rude and not accommodating AT ALL! Poor service from the inexperienced kids working there aswell. The food took over 40 minutes for some kids meals, fish and parmis. One adult ordered a veggie stack, after the food finally coming out we were told they no longer offer the veggie stack and if the adult would like a refund.. uughhh hello? It took the staff 40 minutes to realise they don't even offer it. Not to mention, the staff didn't even know how to refund the money. The whole experience was just absolutely disgusting and for a paying customer I would never waste my time there again. I would have had better luck at the local OTR! POOR EFFORT...

Arrived for our 12pm booking for 12 made six weeks ago and they had no record. They did manage to find us a table. Of the meals ordered only two enjoyable. The gluten free options on the menu were not available. Items on the online menu (oysters) were no longer served.
