Did some research on this country bakery, and heard the potato pies were something to travel across the world for, and boy it did not disappoint
Walked into the bakery and stress levels rose, there weren’t many pies in the warmer, but thankfully the young lass at the front counter said that there were some pies in the oven cooking and she went back there and checked for a potato pie, and we managed to strike gold 3 potato pies straight out of the oven (with bacon on top), these pies were something else, the pastry was perfect, the minced meat above was also perfect, the ultra fluffy potatoes were delicious and the bacon bits on top were bloody good.
The main room was recently renovated with new floorboard and a fresh coat of paint, however the child’s room had not been renovated, the floorboards were not new and the paint was in need of a paint, this didn’t let us down fortunately and we enjoyed a great meal.
Custard tarts were good, pastry a quite crunchy but still really good, vanilla slice was bosh. It changed my fellow MAFS viewers life
Everything all round was very good and everyone with me was incredibly happy...
Read moreOur ongoing search for Australia’s best pie brought us to the South Australian town of Keith — and more specifically, the Keith Bakery and Coffee Shop. This spot is a regular stop whenever we're travelling through to Melbourne, and for good reason: welcoming staff, clean facilities, and a broad selection of food and coffee make it a dependable choice.
This time, I went for the potato pie — a generous, square-shaped serve topped with an ample layer of golden potato. Beneath that was a rich, meaty filling that was absolutely delicious. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better example of the style.
Just as I was heading out, the cake fridge grabbed my attention — and I couldn’t resist grabbing an apple turnover. It turned out to be a great decision: sweet, creamy, and packed with tender apple.
All up, Keith Bakery delivered once again. A top-notch stop and a strong contender in the great...
Read moreLove love love the Keith Bakery! There is so much to choose from. The usual baked fare, lots of cakes and buns. I really like that they are glad wrapped on the counter ready to go. Sandwiches and rolls are made to order and there is a large dining area if you want to sit in. There are bathroom facilities available. A large selection of drinks plus coffees to have in or takeaway. I've always found the staff friendly and helpful. We tend to use the Keith bakery as one of our first stops on the way through to vic, and is always a welcome stop. This day, I had a cheese kranksy... it was just the right temp to eat. The sausage was juicy and not too spicy. The pastry was flaky without being messy. Just yummy. My companion had a chicken salad roll, that was made to order... fresh and filling. Looking forward to being back in a...
