Cafe Romero — Restaurant in Launceston

Extremely unfriendly service. Cafe is spotless and has so much potential but we were made to feel unwelcome by the staff and all of the warning signs inside.

We inadvertently broke some rules that were signposted around the cafe but we only noticed the signs after we had been seated, placed our order, and paid. If the staff had pointed out these rules before ordering, we would have respected their requests and gone elsewhere (the signs mentioned restrictions on trolleys and we had a newborn with us in a pram). Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome in the space which ruined what would have been a nice atmosphere.

Cafe Romero is one of those places you just feel comfortable in. The staff are always friendly and welcoming—whether it’s your first visit or you’re a regular, they treat everyone with the same warmth. Service is quick without feeling rushed, and they actually take the time to chat if it’s not too busy.

The coffee is consistently good, and they’ve got a nice variety of food—simple, fresh, and tasty. Nothing over the top, just decent meals done well. It’s a great spot to sit and relax, and they’ve created a space that feels homely but not cramped.

I’ve had numerous coffees at Romeros’, I haven’t had a bad one yet, it’s always just what I’ve ordered it and how I like it. I’ve had plenty of lunches there as well. The food is always good and plenty of it. I really like the booth setup in the seating, although there are table and chair options, inside, as well, also there is an outdoor area, where I sometimes take my dog for a social experience, she enjoys herself and I can have my drink knowing she is safe with me and not tied up outside and alone.
