Legana Tavern Bar & Bistro — Restaurant in Launceston

This has been the most disappointing dinner stop during our Tasmania trip.

The service was terrible! It wasn't particularly busy, but we still waited long stretches of time to be seated- I was starting to wonder if we'd made a mistake and it was an order at the counter situation. When we did get our order taken, they asked if we wanted to order desert drinks and dinner all in one go, which we did. When ordering the kiev we were told there was a 25 minute wait - ok, fine, hopefully it's nice and fresh - not so, we were worried something was wrong with it, actually. The kiev was actually the second set of food we received we were waiting another five to ten minutes before we received the burger and the carbonara.

After eating dinner, we waited maybe twenty minutes to half an hour, expecting the desert we had ordered at the start of the night. It never came. Staff never came to our table to clear it or bring us the desert. They didn't look at us again after dropping of the last meal.

We went up to pay, and they tried to charge us for the dessert we never received!!!! When we explained what happened, not even an apology, just 'oh' and took it off the bill. Embarrassing

And to top it all off the food we did revive ranged from average to aweful, though price wouldn't imply it. Carbonara was soupy and bland, and the chicken kiev tasted like there was something wrong with it and the burger was just fine. Would not come here again if...

Wow very disappointing. Thought we would give this place a try. Got there sat at our table. Was only there 3 minutes and waiter came over to see what we wanted already. Said not ready yet. Came back again not even ten minutes later. We felt so rushed. Ordered. I got flathead. Chips. Salad. Well batter that's is what is mostly was. Very oily. Salad was so bland. Just ate the few chips. $32 dollars it was. Other order chicken burger. The bun was dry. And very over cooked. And the sauce on it just tasted terrible. Should not had been on the burger. Just eaten the chicken. Bacon. Few chips. Cost. $25.50. When waiter came to collect our plate. I let him know and he said when you go and pay just let them know and they do something. When up to pay and mention table 14. Well the bloody attitude straight away. Dnt even look at me. Said in his attitude voice. I'll take $7.00 off. And had to pay. 2.50 for tomato sauce. So I guess I can say. WE DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. VERY...

I have eaten at the legana tavern for many years but last night I was annoyed and extremely disappointed, I ordered steak with pepper sauce, nothing wrong with the steak nor sides but the pepper sauce!! Someone forgot to soak their peppercorns, surely a qualified chef would not have done this, the sauce was not edible, the peppercorns were hard as a rock, that hard, someone could have done damage to their teeth!! When I order sauce it's to compliment my meal, it's a big part of the meal where as flavour is concerned, I very rarely complain but did let the very nice waitress know and asked her to tell the cook, and I do say cook because a chef wouldn't have served up sauce like that, it was described as creamy peppercorn sauce, more like gravy with peppercorns thrown in at the last minute, although I have eaten here for alot of years after last night's dinner, I won't be returning, I left...
