Cevapi are so dry and nothing like our traditional Balkan cevapi. Waiting time to get served will take you minimum of 40-50 min wait in heat where they don't close the door and you will sit in heat in this hot weather. Majority of traditional food listed on menu are not available. If you asked for punjene paprike which are listed on menu they dont have it, grah they dont hsve it etc etc. All in all what you can get there is cevapi with dry lepina, soggy if you ask for take away as they put ajvar ( which you need to pay extra for ) and sour cream all together in one plastic container. By the time you get home all your lepina gets soggy from ajvar and sour cream which they don't pack in small plastic containers. If you order piece of cake you will get like glass cut piece of cake that can’t even stand how thin it is. And to be honest quite expensive. Been there once and never again. Melted waiting in heat for over 40 min no customer service provided. Nothing available what they show they have and on menus. Wanted to support this small business but very disappointed and wont be back. ** I saw the owner’s reply. I appreciate their comment but my experience was still disappointing because to start with I am Bosnian and I grew up in Bosnia and just came back actually from Bosnia and I know exactly how cevapi taste like. Also about dirty dishes, I am Muslim and I dont eat pork just to clarify this, so you can’t comment on that. Waiting time is more then 40-50 min in this heat, customer service poor. Half of things you have on menu are not available and you are not selling that. No comments on that ?I came there to support our small business and our Bosnian community and speaking from my bad experience .And also I don’t and did’t eat čevapi from any other place with dirty dishes and I am not first one who told you this before. White plate cevapi were served on were greasy. Before you say something to your customer about authentic food etc maybe you should get your facts first as you don’t know if I am from Bosnia and when did I go there or do I eat pork or not? Piece of cake like piece of glass thin, ajvar and sour cream put together in same one plastic container with lepina and cevapi and lepina gets so soggy from sour cream and cevapi.. no comments on that i guess? And also about waiting time min 40-50 min? I wish you all the best and i visted you to support your small business and for our community but I know for sure I wont be back there anymore. Instead of offering some assistance or help you are there commenting about your customer eating pork and not visiting Balkan for long time etc etc. Its disappointing and very poor again customer service...

This place is worth ten reviews!
Today I drove up from the Gold Coast to Brisbane and decided to stop in at Balkan House QLD in Slacks Creek to see what all the hype was about — and WOW, it lived up to every expectation and more.
The owners are young, energetic, and genuinely care about what they do. The place was packed — we could barely get a table! The ćevapi were 10/10, honestly the best I’ve had in Queensland. The lepinja was soft and moist, the onions perfect, and I couldn’t resist grabbing two takeaway orders because my whole car smelt like heaven. 🥰
The vibe was fantastic, easy to find location, and they trade on a Sunday (major bonus!). This will definitely be our new go-to spot for breakfast and lunch. They serve all the classics — gulaš, sarma, tulumbe — and for those new to Balkan food, there’s plenty more like salads, burgers, and other crowd favourites.
The coffee was perfect, piping hot and strong just how I like it. We even stopped in twice today because we couldn’t get enough!
Highly recommend booking ahead for larger groups and definitely come hungry. The service and care factor is a solid 10/10 — there’s truly nothing like this on the Gold Coast or in Brisbane.
Massive kudos to the young owners — you’re doing an incredible job and I hope you stick around for many...
Read moreMy visit to this café on Sunday was quite disappointing. I was trying to place an order, but the tall girl at the counter was too busy gossiping and completely ignored me for quite a while. I waited long enough before she finally decided to take my order.
I ordered a Cevapi. Gulas, two Chicken Shish, and one Lamb Shish. The food itself was cooked to perfection hats off to the chefs for their amazing work! However, the customer service was really poor. It’s unacceptable for a staff member on the till to ignore a customer who’s clearly waiting to order, and she was also a bit rude. The tall lady at the till seriously needs to learn some customer service.
Management, please look into this issue. Compliments to the kitchen team for the great food, but the service experience definitely needs...
