Macksville Hotel — Restaurant in Macksville

The food here is great. Been here several times now. However the ordering process is a debacle. You have to order at the bar where each time I've been there's only one person serving. This last time we had to que up behind about 8 undecided pensioners who took over 10 minutes to order. No one came to open another till and overcrowding at the bar became a problem. The process of meal delivery is also silly with you being given a number where a waitress brings your meal out. This caused problems for a couple near by waiting for their meals but not getting anything because they'd displayed a number that the server didn't match. Somehow the numbers got mismatched.They should just use buzzers so you just pick up your meal. Good food nice place let down by silly procedures.

#Update June 2022 The food standards have dropped since the head chef Will has left. I think there's been two since him and they're just not making the cut. The chicken burger previously the southern fried burger is bland with no spice. Also the fish n chips is 70% batter 30% fish. We spent out first night in the Maskville hotel and we were served by a young man with a beard, he was lovely to chat to and knew what was good on the menu. A lovely place to go listen to the music playing, great service at the bar and great Massive sized meals. well worth a visit

30/09/2025 Once again we have visited this Great Pub and once again we have had great service and great food. This time we went there to have our 10th Wedding Anniversary. It was so nice to be asked when booking, if it was a special occasion. Even when we go there, they said if we where not happy with our table we could move. Then the Manager shouted us a bottle of bubbles for our Anniversary ( all of which was not necessary) however made us feel special. The service was great, the staff warm and friendly and the Food was both filling and great to eat and taste. Room was great, very large, bed excellent. Lights were dim and one did not work at all, tiles missing off bathroom wall. A bit of maintenance would just pick the room up more. Very good value for money on the accommodation side, I would stay there again BUT I would find somewhere else to eat. The warm crispy pork belly salad with crispy noodles was revolting. The salad was every kind of cabbage with what tasted like a slurp of cheap vinegar, the crispy pork belly tasted like burned, thick cut bacon that had been over salted and chopped into a few small (very small) pieces.
