Edit: 30 Aug 2025 (1 star) Had been a regular customer since last year and my favourite go to is the curry-based Yong Tau Foo which in my opinion is beyond 5 stars.
However truly disappointed with the recent overall experience during the after reno half-price promotion.
The curry soup based was very much diluted. Had to add lots of the self-serviced chilli sauce in order for the taste of the soup to be acceptable.
The amount of the vermicelli was so little that it was ‘swimming freely’ in the soup and I had to ‘chase after’ every strand of it.
Totally disappointed! If the half-priced promotion intention is to attract more customers but cutting corners of the ingredients, quality and services. I would say this is a failed strategy. You have already lost 2 customers.
2024 (5 stars) Delicious Yong Tau Foo with curry soup. Rich and creamy broth makes it so satisfying and comforting. Got to choose any 6 pieces of my favourite Yong Tau Foo. Like it this way so I don’t have to stick with certain preset combinations. Fish Head curry with vermicelli is another great dish. Fish was crispy and seasoned perfectly. Was pleasantly surprised that it came with a few pieces of Yong Tau Foo too. Attentive and efficient staffs. Will definitely come...
Read moreBeen eating at Ampang Tofu, the Village Avenue outlet since 2001, on and off numerous times especially in the first 10 years since moving into the area. Got to know Tucker and his trials and tribulations and struggles. In the last 8 odd years and especially after its re-opening after the major renovations and post-COVID, the quality and quantity had taken a dive with a concurrent price hike. Currently, only dine there very rarely and only if my friends want to give it another go...
Most recently, my children wanted to get some takeouts for dinner with some friends visiting us and decided to order online and the shock to my hip pocket was the price difference on each dish item between the dine-in and delivery! The actual delivery fee by Doordash was zero, but the price difference of each dish was between $3 to $5!!!! How come???
Very unlikely to buy anything food from A.T. again. So many other Malaysian restaurants with more reasonably prices at much higher quality especially in the Doncaster and Box Hill precincts, and taking in Ringwood, Mitcham, etc.
And sincerely, I do wish "Good Luck and Best Wishes" to the current and next generations...
Read moreI ordered Indian Mee Goreng & Curry Chicken. The portion looks acceptable for one person's meal but I did not finish my food because after eating the Mee Goreng for 3 mouths, I felt that the Mee Goreng was extremely sour and that it wasn't edible for me. Sourness was the only taste that I gathered from the Mee Goreng. Nothing else. No sweetness nor spiciness. I called the restaurant and double checked on the taste. The restaurant mentioned that it's supposed to be a little sour, sweet and spicy. I shared my experience with the restaurant, they apologised and are happy with giving me a refund. Even though the food was really horrible and I had to throw away the food because it was inedible but the service recovery was good. Bear in mind that I've eaten Mee Goreng before and I'm a Singaporean, so definitely plenty of Mee Goreng. Also, I put my collection time at 5:00pm and the food was ready to be collected at 4:56pm! So great service and collection time but I probably wouldn't patronise again due to the poor...
