Augustus Gelatery - Yarraville — Restaurant in Melbourne

I just visited Augustine's Gelatery in Yarraville today and was very unimpressed by the way we were treated. My daughter found hair in her ice cream which she brought to the attention of the workers there. One of the workers reluctantly remade her ice cream from The same batch of ice cream which had another hair. Rather than making her a new one from her new batch or offering a refund, she slammed the ice cream on the bench and remade using the same batch which had the hairs in it. Food safety especially during Covid times has not been observed. This is very concerning.

We had the ice cream at the store and didn't leave the premises, so cross contamination was unlikely as we ate in front of the staff. The workers were very unapproachable.

Unfortunately I didn't think to take pictures. I have contacted them by Facebook messenger but no one...

Walked in at 8:59pm tonight (a lovely, warm, spring night). Two girls were still serving some customers. My girlfriend and I started looking at the ice cream options and shortly after we were told by the young lad sweeping the floors that they were closed. Ice cream still on display and tables and chairs still out the front - yet closed. My girlfriend and I left quite surprised that they had just turned down business. Definitely left a sour taste in our mouths which is especially disappointed when ice cream should be sweet. Will be taking out business to decent establishments that actually want business and have some sort of customer service.

Will not be returning and would not recommend!! There are MANY other places out there that deserve and want...

Our first time trying the ice cream at Augustus, first of all, the serving were small, my husband ordered 3 scoop cone and it was so little. Secondly, the ice cream taste like soft serve, way too soft in the cold weather like this. Thirdly, ordered Pistachio flavour but can’t even taste the Pistachio at all. It’s more like powder flavour rather than real pistachios. Lastly, the girl who served us keeps touching her hair and take the cone and then wrap it in napkins. We ended up not eating the cone at all. Hygiene is definitely lacking at this shop. Definitely will not go back there again 👎 and will not recommend this...
