On the 30th of September 2023, I booked Brunswick Pizza and Grill at 7.15pm, for a dine-in experience that night, using the Eat Club App. The dine-in experience was for myself and a close friend, who at the time I was explaining how Eat Club worked to him. I thought Eat Club was a reputable application to assist patrons to find decent restaurants and offer great deals, however I was extremely wrong about this, due to the terrible experience I had at Brunswick Pizza and Grill.
Upon arrival the venue (Brunswick Pizza and Grill) appeared closed, until my friend and I were then approached by a staff member who said they were open. Upon entering the venue, we noticed that the restaurant was under renovation and appeared non-operational. Staff stated they were doing takeaway only, however we had booked a dine-in voucher with Eat Club and expected the venue to be fully operational, which it was not. Staff stated that we could still order and sat us down at a table covered with paint drop sheets. The seating area was extremely dirty and still had construction materials scattered around the seating area and venue. We were put in an uncomfortable and difficult position as we wanted to leave, however staff were persistent in encouraging us to stay and order.
We then ordered our food and drinks but the staff service was extremely poor. A staff member hovered over our table expecting payment immediately, not at the end of service, like a regular dining experience. The staff member made my friend and I extremely uncomfortable, especially when he wouldn't leave our table, until we made payment.
The food we received was sub-par and extremely poor, probably the worst pizza and drinks I have ever eaten and received from a restaurant. To make things much worse, we also received no table service or water for the table. Our canned drinks were brought out after our Pizzas and were served to us warm and were not cold as we would've expected. Upon payment we noticed the staff had calculated incorrectly and overcharged us for our meal. (2 X Pizzas valued at $19.99 and $14.99 and 2 X Canned Soft Drinks valued at $4 each, totaled $42.98) however we were charged $49 and were given no receipt.
My friend and I stayed in the venue for less than 30mins, as we were extremely disappointed and put off by the terrible staff service and extremely dirty and hazardous seating area. This has been the worst Eat Club experience I have ever had, as the photos online and on the Eat Club App, mislead what the food and restaurant was really like in reality. Restaurants should not be advertised or allowed to accept Eat Club offers when they are non-operational as this one was.
I was extremely embarrassed to have brought my friend to this restaurant and I have now lost faith in the Eat Club experience. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a restaurant, especially a simple Pizza restaurant. To top it all off, I complained to Eat Club and wanted a full refund for the terrible experience I had at Brunswick Pizza and Grill. However, I was treated like garbage by both Eat Club and the restaurant and did not receive adequate compensation for the terrible experience I had.
To close, I say to everyone please avoid to dine-in or buy food from Brunswick Pizza and Grill, there are much better Pizza venues out there, where you will be treated like an actual customer and not like garbage. Also, to all patrons using Eat Club, just know that when you suffer a terrible experience like I did, Eat Club will rather defend the restaurant, instead of trying to resolve matters with...
Read moreI don’t normally post reviews, but this place was such a masterpiece of chaos I feel morally obligated to share it.
I ordered takeaway through Eatclub, all sweet, until I arrived to pick it up and was hit with a “We don’t have your order” situation. I show them the order on my phone, which apparently wasn’t proof enough. Cue a five-minute debate amongst staff in a foreign language, presumably trying to decide if I was hallucinating or not, before they finally conceded and agreed to make my food. 10 minutes they said. Oh, how naive I was to believe them.
Now, let me set the scene: the restaurant is mid-renovation. Not the Brunswick “quirky hipster unfinished look” kind of vibe, no, no. I’m talking full-on construction site. The shopfront is blacked out, construction materials are strewn across the floor, and a wheelbarrow (yes, an actual wheelbarrow) takes center stage in the dimly lit room. The whole place smells like someone just opened a fresh bag of cement, and there I was, standing alone like the main character in a horror film waiting for food at 10-something PM.
The fun doesn’t end there. While showing my order to the staff member on my phone, this dude literally tries to grab my phone out of my hand. Repeatedly. Without a word. As if he bought it for me. Then, as if this wasn’t weird enough, he aggressively tells me to follow him to the kitchen. Yeah nah mate, I don't care if Gordon Ramsey is back there filming an episode of Hell’s Kitchen, I'm not going back there. I just want my sad takeaway.
After a biblical 30 minutes, my order is finally ready. I open the pizza box, fully prepared for disappointment, and let me tell you, I was still shocked. A frozen pizza from Coles would be gourmet compared to whatever cardboard frisbee they handed me. And the “chicken mushroom pasta”? Oh, you mean the penne soup with three microscopic slices of chicken floating in the runniest cream sauce ever concocted. It was like someone dared them to make pasta into a beverage. But hey, I gotta give it to them, at least the Fanta tasted good.
Honestly, I’m kind of in awe. How does this place even exist? Who funds this dystopian dining experience? Is it a front for something? A social experiment? Either way, I give it a 10/10 for comedy and a 0/10 for food. Would recommend, but only if you’re writing a sitcom or need a story to...
Read moreI would give zero stars if possible. The experience was a complete mess and highly disappointing. Based on other reviews that I had not read before placing an order, it appears this restaurant has a habit of deflecting legitimate complaints by accusing customers of being scammers or biased. This approach is both unprofessional and absurd. Blaming others instead of addressing genuine concerns only further damages their reputation. Improvements in service quality and accountability are urgently needed for Brunswick Pizza & Grill."
Long story short; The most unhygienic restaurant ever. The worst experience. Long story; At 22:00, I placed an order for pickup at 22:30. The order included:
1 "Family" Hawaiian pizza 1 "Family" pizza 1 garlic bread 1 large drink (1.25L) I clearly remember selecting this order from their menu, which I have attached as a photo. The order was titled "Pizza Deal Four" and matched the prices shown. However, upon pickup, the garlic bread and large drink were missing.
The main reason for choosing this restaurant was its proximity to my workplace in Brunswick, allowing my colleague to pick up the order easily.
Upon arrival, the staff at the restaurant initially asked if we had ordered pasta, even though the correct order had been confirmed. My colleague was then kept waiting for an additional 35 minutes while the pizzas were prepared. The pizzas received did not appear to be "family" size but standard-sized, as shown in the attached photo.
The condition of the restaurant was extremely unhygienic. The environment was unacceptable and raises serious concerns about food safety and standards.
This incident caused unnecessary inconvenience. My colleague, who was tasked with the pickup, lost approximately 40 minutes of productive work time due to the delay, which affected...
