China Bar Brimbank — Restaurant in Melbourne

We come here often because the service had always been top notch and food is ok. However on Friday at around 10:30am, my family and I came and as we were ordering the lady was very rude and kept cutting us off during ordering saying she is busy. That we should write on the slip and bring it to her then she proceeded to show us. Then changed her mind and said do we know what we want and we said yes because we only wanted 2 dishes and a can of drink. She then took our order and again said AGAIN rudely said she is so busy and proceeded to point to the person behind us that just came. There were barely any customers when we got there and there were none in line when we were ordering until she fluffed around. She later gave us the wrong drink and when we corrected her she appeared very annoyed. It was a very unpleasant encounter and enough for us to not come ever again. Hit and miss. Depends who is cooking, serving can be so stingy. Nice tasting food. My only gripe is consistency in serving portions. Tonight upsettingly stingy on the roast pork. Soo much rice and so little meat!!!

Also with other dishes we ordered, stir fried beef. Tofu with pork.... Same sauces. When you have it at china bar Russel st CBD, they are different sauces. Braised beef brisket on rice with lots of sauce, 2 tiny pieces of beef and 3 pieces of beef fat (that was so off-putting).

So disappointing as took the whole family here tonight and the talking point was about too much rice and so little serving of main dish/meats. Good thing water is free to fill us up. Been here b4 during lunch and I remember portions were more generous.

Oh also staff didn't didn't explain what to do and assumed everybody knew what to do when ordering. Had to explain to family member how...

If I could give zero stars, I would. Yesterday at China Bar Brimbank, I was served a bowl of Tom Yum Soup filled with black, rotten seafood. It was completely inedible and visually appalling.

I called a staff member over — she glanced at it, told me to wait, and then proceeded to serve others, clean tables, and blatantly ignore me. When I asked again, she took it to another worker who came to my table laughing. Yes, laughing. Telling me she “doesn’t know” and offering a refund or replacement, but warned me to complain immediately next time or she'd “do nothing.”

The audacity to serve visibly decomposed seafood and then mock the customer is beyond disgraceful. I couldn’t eat a bite. My friend’s Mongolian beef was sickly sweet and equally revolting.
