When I made a booking I was told that Club Officer was upmarket compared to the Cardinia Club which we have been too lots of times.
Yes the Venue was new and shiny but that doesn't make it more upmarket. Blinds need to be put on the windows as the setting sun was in our eyes so I can't imagine what it would be like in summer. The lighting may give the room more ambience but it was annoyingly dim after the sun set.Even the lady at the eftpos machine couldn't read whether the transaction was approved or not on the receipt. Having table service and having free bread with butter or olive oil also doesnt make it upmarket. It should be all about the food in my opinion.
And the food was a complete let down. My son ordered the pull pork burger. The meat was barely warm. Makes me think it was microwaved not fresh. My brother had a Parma but it wss the size of a Kids meal. My husband and I had the Duck Rolls which were really nice but I have had them the exact same at other bistros whuch makes me think that they were frozen and just deeped fried. Worse was yet to come. We had the share Seafood Platter. The fresh prawns, oysters and Salmon were nice but there was no cooking involved. The beer battered fish came out in the shape of triangles which indicates to me again it came out of a box and was frozen. I can buy better in any supermarket frozen section. I didnt bother to even eat one. My husband had one and said it was inedible. (He complained on the way out when we paid for it) I had one bite out of the Calamari Ring and didn't want to eat anymore. The tempura prawns were nice but by this stage I was over the whole meal and couldn't help but think they were frozen again.
The only positive was that the Chips were nice.
In the end the meal was just a bad pub meal. And just wasn't worth the...
Read moreMy partner and I had dinner at Club Officer this evening and were somewhat surprised when approached by a member of your security team advising the bistro closed at 8.30pm and asking us (albeit politely) ‘to leave’
We were rather taken aback given we have eaten dinner there previously and not been advised of the 8.30pm closing time (fortunately we had already finished our meals and drinks).
Added to which we were advised the kitchen closed at 8.30pm so it seemed unusual the bistro would close at the same time the latter of which seems very early compared to other hotels / clubs both in the area and further afield.
Also no mention was made of other options we could avail ourselves of ie moving to the Sportsbar which was still quite busy due to the trivia night or an alternate seating area.
When we queried the closing time the staff member advised bistro staff couldn’t leave until we had left which seemed a little strange given there were other staff on duty several of which could easily see us from where they were stationed.
I have since reviewed opening / closing times via various online searches and received conflicting information regarding these so could I please suggest you review, update and remove details pertaining to your establishment so they contain the correct information.
Please note we checked in at 7.37pm and were attended to by several staff members none of whom mentioned the 8.30pm closing time so I’m sure you can understand why we were quite taken aback when approached by the security guard.
Have sent them an email on 2 occassions and to date...
Read moreWent for lunch today and ordered a medium rare steak. Cut into it and immediately knew it was well done. So I cut into the middle of the steak, and sure enough the meat was white. Brought it to our waiter’s attention and said to him “this is well done, I asked for medium rare.” So he took it back after he asked if I wanted a new steak. Whilst I understand that sometimes these things happen and I was happy to wait for a new steak, what I didn’t appreciate was the manager coming up to me afterwards. She said “when we cut into the steak it was pink”. What I didn’t say at the time and I should have was that I was the one to cut into the steak, but I responded to her with “no, it was white”. I don’t appreciate the manager lying to me to my face about the quality of my steak. Then they brought out my next steak and it was raw. Sent it back again only to have it medium. I gave up at that point. Then the manager walked past me with another persons order and gave me the dirtiest look. I’m a very easy going person but don’t come up to me and lie to my face to make me out to be the one who is lying. Then at least make sure your manager maintains some professionalism at the very least and not give dirty looks to your customers especially with when the customer was right. If I’m going to spend $40 on a steak then I would imagine it’s not too much to ask that the steak is cooked to my liking. Not impressed at all, I would not have even left this review if the manager didn’t act with such blatant unprofessionalism. A manager should know not to give filthy looks to...
