Tried this local indian which we hadn't had a chance to try earlier. Not sure why we didn't try before because this was very authentic. I am sick of all the lousy restaurants opening up in the neighbourhood which serve bland and tasteless food.
Its a cute and vibrant little restaurant in a residential area next to chemist warehouse and iga. The vibe we got as we entered was very welcoming. We were immediately attended by a lovely waitress and seated straight away at a table we desired. The ambience was brilliant, not tacky, not dull. I couldn't find a single dirty corner.
We were welcomed by the chef personally and suggested dishes to try. We had jeera soda and aam panna mocktails for drinks. Very refreshing. For entree we tried the fish pakora and dahi bhalla chaat. The fish was battered perfectly, crispy and tasteful. The bhalla chaat was full of balanced spices and rich tangy chutneys. For mains we had palak paneer. Again amazing, it was made of fried paneer which was cool. We had garlic and chilli prawns which was just what i wanted. Lovely rich gravy and a generous serving of prawns. The chef mentioned that they had launched a new menu which consisted of his signature dish the chicken shahjahani. This was the real winner with the 5 year old. She ate it the next day for breakfast too. It was like a korma but had an egg beaten through it so it really gave it a nice character. It was mild and creamy. I highly recommend it. The naans were the fluffiest we have come across after a very very long time. Amount of butter and the aroma of the garlic was perfect. Another game changer was the kashmiri naan. I buy a kashmiri naan at every restaurant i go to and THIS. IS. IT! I ate it like a dessert. It was so wholesome and felt so guilt free. It was the most perfect kashmiri i had ever ever had. I was full but still managed to eat it all. It was so delicate yet rich. Not too sweet nor too bland. We didn't opt for any further desserts. The portions were big enough for us to take home for the next day. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area. Not often do you get all three together Great food Great...
Read moreI called the restaurant before ordering and asked about the difference between punjabi butter chicken and regular butter chicken. They explained that punjabi butter chicken is with bones and less sweet. I ordered the same and what came was whole big thick pcs of chicken with very little gravy that had a lot of chopped onion tadka on top. As for butter chicken irrespective of which part of India it is from- the basic smooth, creamy gravy does not change. When I called the restaurant to clarify, they said that is how their punjabi butter chicken is with tadka of onions on top. The dish was filled with the tadka and tasted exactly like chicken tikka masala. I also told them that this was not what they told me - a lady and she had also confirmed this with her manager or maybe owner. Later the owner refused to accept the mistake and also said “ ek butter chicken ke liye itna kya problem kar rahe ho”. They refused to collect it back as well. The dish was unedible as the spices were totally undercooked. FYI- I have had their regular butter chicken earlier which was good, so was expecting the same gravy just the chicken with bones and less spicy, not a dish full of onion tadka and naming it...
Read moreUse to order from curry kingdom, was amazing food but unfortunately under new management now. Do no recommend after they went under new management. Ordered chilli paneer, website states $14.00. When I went to pay they charged $16.50. After telling them that their website says $14.00, they argued saying they’ve called uber to change prices. Explained again it wasn’t on uber eats and actually is on their own website but yet they continued to argue. Wish I could attach pictures of my food after I saw it when I got home. In a 500ml container there was atleast 100ml of oil floating on the top and bottom, threw the food in the bin. Absolutely disgusting. At first I thought it was sauce but then realised it was actually oil. So many better restaurants in the area such as aangan, ajanta, anshuman, jaggi’s which will give actually give you the worth of the money you spend with amazing food. Curry Kingdom does not deserve the 4/5 stars they have on google because they really are taking credit from their...
