I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding our dining experience at your restaurant on Mother’s Day, May 14, 2023. Our family of seven (including two young children) visited your place to celebrate this special occasion, only to encounter several frustrating issues that significantly impacted our experience. When we made our reservation by phone, your staff did not inform us of any time restrictions. Additionally, there was no mention of a 1.5-hour dining limit on your website, social media, or even during our previous visit on Tuesday, May 9. We understand that Mother’s Day is a busy day, but as paying customers, we had the right to be clearly informed of such a policy before arriving—not abruptly upon seating, as if we were being given an ultimatum. Because of this, we felt rushed throughout our meal, unable to fully enjoy our time together. We even avoided ordering hot pot or other dishes that require longer cooking and dining times, fearing we wouldn’t have enough time to finish. This was not the relaxing, celebratory experience we had hoped To make matters worse, while we were still reviewing the menu, the poor owner attempted to snatch it away without asking if we have finish looking at the menu. The overall service attitude was unwelcoming and dismissive, which was especially disappointing given the occasion. Mother’s Day should have been a joyful memory, but this experience left us frustrated and disappointed. If you would not wish for such an unpleasant dinning experience, please visit somewhere else.

Don’t tell mama that their food is better than hers! Have you guys been here before? This was my first time at Don’t Tell Mama Shh! & I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable their food felt. This is what we had: Sotteok Sotteok ($13) - I love the texture of the chewy fried rice cakes and I love how big the portion was. Pork Hot Stone BBQ ($49) - this was like a two in one. There were so much for us to have and we could make some fried rice after we finish 3/4 of the dish. Korean Shabu Shabu ($55) - I wish this had a little bit more flavour in the broth but it was super nice and it felt really healthy. Corn Cheese, Fried Chicken ($51) - this was an explosion of corn cheese mixed with perfectly fried chicken. The cheese pull was immaculate. Melon Soju ($15) - a creamy soju cocktail featuring a Melona stick Screw Kiss Soju ($15) - a strawberry soju cocktail which was very refreshing Strawberry Snowflake Bingsu ($21.5) - their ice was flavoured and they gave heaps of strawberries on the bingsu. It was quite a reasonably size restaurant and the food came out quite fast. Service was really good and the food was quite nice too. Rating: 7/10

I've heard good things about this place; and as someone who hasn't had a lot of Korean Food (besides Gami - if you even call that Korean), I couldn't have picked a better place to go! For a table of 4, we ordered a few meals to share. Cheesy Corn, Sweet Chilli Fried Chicken, Pork Bulgogi, Spicy Sausage Stew (the one where it cooks at your table) and a few drinks. I'm not a fan of chilli, so we asked for the "spice" from the soup to be seperate. It's just a sauce which can be mixed in with the broth. So if anyone is afraid of spicy food like myself, they can definitely modify the menu with no issues. The staff are also very friendly and attentive and we had such a great experience. Our booking was at 7pm and we didn't leave until close as the atmosphere was really awesome. Will be definitely going back again!

Extremely Disappointing Mother's Day Experience

"Don't Tell Mama" delivered what was easily one of the most upsetting Mother's Day dinners we’ve ever experienced.

I had made a reservation for what was meant to be a special evening with my family of 7. We arrived on time, looking forward to a warm and memorable night. Instead, we were immediately told we had just only 90 minutes to dine, a time restriction that was never mentioned during the booking process.

I totally understand today is a busy day and there is a time restriction is in place so I explained to the owner that we had two young children and would do our best, but I couldn't believe that I was met not with empathy, but hostility. The owner raised his voice and accused me of lacking “common sense" as all restaurants around are all have time restrictions” His rude and confrontational attitude was not only shocking but completely unprofessional. As a Manningham resident of over 20 years, I’ve never been treated this way at any restaurants. What made it worse was his comment that if I couldn’t finish my meal in 90 minutes, I should have gone elsewhere now. On Mother’s Day, of all days, this kind of treatment was deeply disheartening.

After sitting down for 5 minutes and we settled our toddlers, we haven't get the chance to scan the QR code for menu, the owner returned and removed the QR code without even asking. We had to flag down a waiter just to get it back so we could access the menu and place our order.

The rest of the dinner was also spent anxiously watching the clock, hurrying our toddlers to finish their food, and feeling completely unwelcome by the owner. What was meant to be a joyful celebration turned into a stressful and upsetting experience.

I don’t usually leave reviews like this, as I understand it can impact a restaurant’s reputation. However, I feel compelled to share this experience with the general public. If you’re planning to celebrate a special occasion with young children or expect a welcoming and respectful environment, I strongly urge you to...

I recently visited Don't Tell Mama Shh, a charming Korean restaurant that delivers an authentic Korean food experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable.

However, the standout dish of the day was their bibimbap—an absolute triumph. Served in a sizzling stone bowl, this bibimbap came to life with vibrant colors, fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked rice, and a perfectly fried egg on top. The mixture of crispy rice at the bottom with the warm, savory sauce added a delicious depth of flavor. The gochujang was just the right level of spicy, allowing the other ingredients to shine without overpowering them. Each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and flavors—crunchy, creamy, spicy, and savory all in one.

The freshness of the vegetables was evident, from the crisp spinach to the tender bean sprouts, and the beef was tender, marinated, and flavorful, giving a nice contrast to the other ingredients. It’s clear that Don't Tell Mama takes pride in the quality of its ingredients and preparation.

If you're craving an authentic and flavorful bibimbap, Don't Tell Mama should be at the top of your list. It's an unmissable experience for both seasoned Korean food lovers and...
