I don't know where to start! Firstly I don't like writing reviews especially bad ones coz that will affect their reputation and business but this restaurant disappointed me so so much that I must. I ordered the Tamarind duck egg, it tasted like it was trenched in sugar syrup, there were no tamarind flavour at all. Also ordered, Farm Chicken Coleslaw, it was like a dessert, I feel as though the restaurant ran our of lemons or what? Lastly ordered the Ha Noi Spring rolls apparently that is what they are known for.... it was soggy inside, the filling of the springrolls were mainly just vegetable no meat to be found, did I accidentally ordered Vegetarian Han Noi Spring rolls? NOPE! that is not even on the menu. They should rebrand the restaurant into a dessert place. Don't waste your time and money coming here, it is not even in a convenient location to begin with, there are lots of places in Sunshine and St Albans that will offer better food and service than this one! Overall rating should be below 3, not sure how they got such a high rating... until I looked at all the 5 star reviews, there were some that just had the rating and no comments. Friends or family of the restaurant owner? Ohh forgot to mention the ice coffee. Um... no need you can just see for yourself, I put 2 photos just so u can see that it was still sealed. When i questioned the owner she brushed it off and says "all restaurants does it, oh it is filled almost to the top". Please judge for yourself as a customer, would you accept this response with this photo? If you cannot provide the entire portion then increase the price or change the cup size. It is quite deceptive that you ordered it thinking that you'll get a regular size ice coffee when it is only filled 60% or is it 50% of...
Read moreHaving spent a while in Melbourne, I can tell you there isn't a famous landmark or area called Duong. However, after some digging, I'm pretty sure you meant a Vietnamese restaurant named Duong!
Assuming that's the case, here's a quick review:
Melbourne has a fantastic Vietnamese food scene, and Duong was a great example of that. It wasn't fancy by any means, but that's part of the charm. Small, family-run places with big flavors are what Melbourne does best.
I went with a classic Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) and wasn't disappointed. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles perfectly cooked, and the beef melt-in-your-mouth tender. They weren't shy with the spice either, which perfectly warmed me up on a chilly Melbourne night.
Overall, Duong was a delicious and affordable option for Vietnamese food. It might not be a white tablecloth kind of place, but for a quick, tasty, and authentic feed, I'd highly...
Read moreI bought 4 meals on Sunday. They were horrible. First of all, there were 2 serves of Bun Dau Mam Tom, the sauce was too watery, I didn't feel any taste, Cha Com was too dry, I thought I ate cardboard. Second of all, there were 1 serve of Bun Cha Ha Noi, all the porks and Cha were the way too dry, I even soaked the meat into the fish sauce but didn't feel any better, so I just threw it away. Lastly, there were 1 serve of Bun Oc, the soup were terrible, I didn't taste anything, it was tasteless, I even thought I ate rice noodles with just plain chicken stock. I paid over $60 for those, I didn't know what you guys done on your foods. I ate from your restaurant many times ago, but this time was the most terrible I ever had. I just want to let you know about your foods and I will...
