Toko Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

We discovered this Fish & Chip shop on one of our long covid walks, although it is not our closest Fish & Chip shop we travel that bit further as it is worth it. The fish is always fresh, white fluffy and juicy, not dry, with a crispy light batter, YUM! I always ask for the potato cakes to be cooked longer as l like these to be crispy too and they are happy to do that. Hubby gets fried Dim Sims, he loves them and we sometimes get a Hotdog in batter which is yummy too. Chips are ok but we don't get them usually. I recently got fish & potato cakes for my eldery Mother, dropped them off, a suburb away, and got a text later from her saying, their fish & potato cakes were delicious. You can also phone your order in advance so it is ready to be picked up by the time...

Been craving fish & chips - devastated that Mermaids Fish & Chips is closed ATM due to the Corolla virus - see note - so hunting a temporary unless better than M F & C in the interim. Prices are reasonable, staff really efficient & organized, potato cakes really very nice, crunchy & cooked in literally moments but still good. Hamburgers & steak sandwich OK, better than other fish shops - except........ But quite ok in every aspect.

NB. ( seriously - every Corona I've owned has been fantastic, sorry Toyota but I've not owned any Corolla's & I'm offended for the Corona's in my past, I've got a zoom...

‘I could eat three of those burgers’ he said licking his fingers clean.... Don't know if ownership has changed but the food which was good last visit and was friggin awesome this time.... Fresh burger, with perfectly cooked egg (rare in a f&c burger). The batter on the flathead was light and not dripping with oil and fish itself was fleshy & fresh. To prove how good & popular Toko”a is, they were sold out of Dim Sims at 630pm on a very hot Sunday..... And when you ring and order & they say 10 mins they mean ten mins, I set the timer to test it...😉... Yummy Toko & friendly...
