This is a great little American-style diner in burbs of Hastings, with a twist: the whole menu is gluten free. But the crumbing is as good as anything you'll find made with wheat flour (and better than many too!). The burger buns (not pictured) are great compared to the GF options at other casual restaurants.

The portions are generous, perfectly cooked, delicious and very well priced.

To top it off there is an extensive craft beer menu, including the full Two Bays gluten free brewery and many smaller Ninch brewers. There's also half a dozen each of mid and very low alcohol beer options. The wine list is also generous and skews local.

There are great local feel and coming on a Wednesday night there were clearly many regulars enjoying some friendly banter with the owner.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience and well...

Thank you baby cheesus for Ed's! 🙏🏼 Swung by initially for a quick takeaway fries and pickle slaw in the middle of a hectic work day. As a coeliac, the words "quick", "easy", "affordable", "delicious", and "coeliac safe" rarely come together in a sentence but Ed's ticks all those boxes. I'd been hanging for a decent burger for a few months so came back for a proper sit down the following week. The cheeseburger was incredible. The portion size was generous and even better, didn't break the bank. My mate (non coeliac) said he wouldn't know it was gf from taste or textures so A++

Staff incredibly friendly and efficient. Venue was clean, decor on point, awesome little spot - whether that be at the bar, at a table or takeaway on your lap...

This place is a coeliac's heaven! For the first time in years, we have been able to order chicken schnitzel from a menu, and its real chicken breast - not that horrible processed stuff. They also serve desserts and have a range of gluten free beers. We over ordered (intentionally) and had chicken schnitzels, chicken wings and garlic bread - and 5 hours later we are still full. Well worth the 35min drive to know that we can order safely and have food not often available as a safe option at other venues. There is off-street parking, outdoor and indoor seating, and dog bowls outside for canine friends. I also saw a few people picking up takeaway. Would definitely return here for a guilty feed of...

Absolutely love coming to Ed’s ! Ed himself is a great guy; he always greets us with a smile and a joke. I always order the regular chicken. It comes with fries, slaw and cornichons. Though I always ask for extra cornichons, as they are my favourite. The slaw is made in house so it’s always fresh, has a nice balance of sweetness, crunch and tang. The chicken itself is coated in a nice blend of spices and is cooked to perfection. Every time I come here, it’s always consistent, tasty and filling. I would most definitely recommend coming to Ed’s whether it’s for food or just to have a drink.

We were so impressed and so appreciative to find the most amazing gluten free fried chicken this side of anywhere! Great wine and beer selection - mixed drinks as well. I noticed that there are milkshakes that can be made lactose free - I may try that next. The mac-n-cheese at the table next to us looked so good as well. The staff there are funny and kind and we felt so welcomed to be there. Sitting by the wood fireplace was the perfect touch on a cold, windy day. Thank you Ed's Kitchen! <3 xoxo
