It's very rare to discover new innovation in the world of pies, yet the humble Gembrook bakery has done it. Today I had probably one of the best pies I have ever had in my life, and trust me when I say, I've had a lot of pies. It was a brisket chorizo and dark chocolate pie. Yes you read this right, dark m'fing Chocolate in a pie! In this economy. Beggers belief. The result, the most delicious mouth watering creation that is both satisfying and leaves you wanting morsels more. Other pies to note are the widow maker; A Russian roulette of pies in which the varying strength of the ghost peppers they use to make said pie ultimately leave you with either a bit of ring sting or a full on confrontation with thy maker. The pastry on the pie, sausage roll and pastie was great. No soft or soggy or chewy bits, how pastry should be. The sausage roll pastry was nicely laminated but not overly oily.
The spices in the savouries were good, not over the top and is complimented by a bit of tomato sauce.
The vanilla slice was good, but not amazing. The pastry was a bit softer and not crispy. The fondant was also a bit wet and sticky which made it a bit messier than usual to eat. The vanilla was nicely flavoured and was a good texture, it was not gelatinous/jelly or overly cream like. I reckon it'd be a good slice on a better day, so we'll...

More than half the passengers came here to eat so seating was full but you can just takeaway and head down to the park right beside the station where there are picnic tables and benches.
They serve a wide variety of sweet treats and savoury pies. Ordered the Thai Green Curry with Chicken Pie and Chai Latte. They don't put up prices but I would guess each item averages around $6-7.
My pie had a lovely crust but couldn't taste much green curry at all. The chai latte was also decently good. Staff are friendly as like in all small...
