Manhattan Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

Attended this venue for the first time on 23rd December 2018 to see "The Real Thing Russell Morris". Had no idea of the setup and photographs of the venue didn't give much idea on what was available. I contacted the venue prior to the day about the show times and availability of meals and if you could eat your meal during the performance. I advised the female who took the call that I had never been to this venue before. She told me, that yes you can order your meals during the performance and sit at the tables. My understanding was that when you purchased tickets you would be seated at a table and you could have your meal at these tables. I was told to arrive at the venue between around 5:00 pm as the show was to start around 5:30pm. When we arrived, there were no tables inside as such that you could eat off. In fact there were no chairs or tables available at all. It was a free for all. There was seating and tables available outside, but most of those chairs had been removed and taken inside. I was not made aware that we would have to eat outside, in full sun, with just a barrier between the eating area and the smoking area. We held a celebration for our children's baptism and first communion at The Manhattan's Liberty room. We had an excellent experience!

The room size was perfect for our group of 65 people. There was adequate room for our tables (which each seated 8 - 9), gift and bonbonniere tables, around the bar, on the dance floor/photo area, and a fabulous area for the kids to play (we set up board games/craft for them).

The food was excellent and delicious. We went for the buffet option and really liked that you were able to select so many options for the price allocated. The chefs and wait staff were also responsive on the day - if we needed food topped up, in serving cake around, etc. There were also adequate staff at the bar serving our guests.

Importantly, we cannot speak more highly of Kelly, the function manager! She was so lovely to deal with - friendly, supportive and highly responsive throughout the process. She was also very diligent, had excellent communication skills, and exceptional organisation skills. No question was too hard, she always had great suggestions, and she always wanted to find ways to make our event wonderful and our lives easier.

All in all, a very positive experience, we would definitely recommend them and would definitely have an event there again. The celebration will be one we will always cherish - our sincere thanks to Kelly and the Manhattan team for contributing so...

I visited your venue last night for a family members 30th birthday dinner. Food was ok. But the lady working in the pokies area was absolutely awful towards myself and my brother who was staying at the motel there with his wife and kids. We spent a lot of money over the 7 hours there to be treated that poorly was a disgusting. I had a water bottle fancy bling one I ask the lovely gentleman at the bar if I could get some water he kindly filled my bottle up we continued to play the pokies I finished my water went to the bar to ask for more water and the lady was so rude saying I shouldn't have my water bottle I said sorry the gentleman before filled it for me she was angry saying he shouldn't have and said I could have a glass of water. I walk back to the machine and poured my water in my bottle as I was leaving soon, I went out to the smoking area had a vape and the lady came outside emptying the ashtrays and gave me the most awful look and said I SEEN WHAT YOU DID WITH YOUR WATER..... excuse me I wasn't causing any trouble I wasn't intoxicated I was clearly sober drinking water playing the pokies.. for someone visiting the venue being treated like I was a trouble maker was humiliating.
